MESSAGE OF THE AFTERNOON/EVENING TO PENNSYLVANIA CONSERVATIVES
Get out and vote Toomey.
I am kind of surprised about the reports that US Rep. Toomey seems to be carrying Lancaster County by a slim margin, 52-48
Toomey needs to rack up a good margin in Lancaster County, so that he can afford to bleed a little on Specter turf in Philly.
So if youre a Penn. Republican, quit reading the Corner and go vote Toomey.
Toomey also needs huge margins in York and Harrisburg to offset anticipated Specter wins in the Philly surburbs.

Weren't you the one whining about the discussion becoming a "smack down"
Not at all. I don't have a fear of the truth. I like my discussions brash and in your face. Now I think it was your pal Petuniaski that got his panties all in a bunch.

so whats your beef here ?
My beef is that you are so very wrong in predicting who is going to win tonight and why.

And 1992. Guess which presidential candidate won PA that year? Clinton even got fewer votes than Specter's opponent.
And what is your point? The President is on the top of the ticket, even over a US Senator. Presidents may or may not have coat tails. US Senators dont. But a reason to fire up the liberal wackos could certainly not help.

ClintonBeGone,Honey he sure did not bring in any votes for Bush and you have no voice here, you don't live here.
Perhaps once you finish having the constitution translated you can help us all understand your language.

CBG, the Democrats are still angry about Florida 2000! Toomey would not fire them up in the least.

As I've said before, I could care less about this state in terms of how it effects Bush. He has and can again lose it and still win the Presidency. However, if Toomey won tonight we likely would have lost that seat in the Senate. That's what matters.

Drudge is reporting that with 89% of the precincts counted, it's 50-50 but Specter still has a slim lead.

"very wrong in predicting who is going to win..." hey Rino, I never made a prediction.
I only wish that Toomey would have won. In truth, as a christian, I am resigned to the fact before my lord Jesus returns, evil, in many forms, will triumph. Arlen Specter, A promoter of the murder of innocent babies, is just another brick in the wall. have a great day, and don't glot too much, it causes indigestion.

Oh please, there is no excuse for his bad behavior but himself - and Toomey is certainly not responsible.

can I ask you for clarification on what I think I see you saying? Are you saying that democracy and freedom are simply cultural values, not necessarily less dangerous to peace than the values common in Arab or Islamic cultures? No, that is not what I am saying. Democracy is merely a form of Government. It may involve certain cultural values, and certainly how any people might decide to implement it, might involve their unique cultural values; but it is more political theory than anything else. Freedom, on the other hand, means very different things to different peoples, and different things to people of different ideologies, even within the same societies--as witness the debates in 20th Century America, still going on.
Where we differ, really, however, is in three particulars:
1. I do not think that "Democracy" is a suitable system for most Third World peoples, and have stated my reasons in some detail in a Chapter of the Conservative Debate Handbook (Democracy In The Third World.)
2. I do not think that the absence of Democracy has anything whatsoever to do with a "root cause" of terrorism. And I cannot think of a clearer mistake than insulting the people of a whole region of the earth, with the idea that we know what is better for them than they do, and intend to change their culture; as a way of dissuading them from embracing "terrorist" tactics. We need to isolate the actual terrorists, not continue to make them folk heroes by confirming their propaganda. (They have charged us with trying to do exactly what the Administration now says it is trying to do, when we were not trying to do that.) (See War 2001!, for my autumn 2001 suggestions as to how the War On Terror should be fought.)
3. The cause for the perceived lack of innovative progress in the Near East, in recent generations, is not cultural stagnation; rather both the lack of innovative progress and any cultural stagnation are kindred effects from the destruction of much of the regional academic potential, in various wars, with a particular emphasis on the genocidal actions of the Mongol conquerors around 1400. This is tragic, but it is not something the American taxpayer can correct; nor should our Government be building sand castles in a frivolous effort to deny reality.
