My apologies if a thread already exists. I did a search on "Toomey" and found nothing.
I arrived at my polling area (suburban Philadelphia) at 6:45 am to hand out palm cards. The weather is terrific this morning, but turnout (I thought) was light (I had to leave at 9:15, but will be back).
Actually, I have a good feeling about Pat.

He played the hand he was dealt. He might have folded that hand and done nothing.

I didn't sign up for "Arab Democracy"If you voted for GWB, you signed up for Arab Democracy. If you don't like what he's doing, you could always support Frenchie.

Hoeffel will win Philly. The question will be the margin. Since he's known there, he'll do better than Yeakel. But there's no way in hell that Specter wins Philly in November. Hoeffel isn't really know there .. and Spector is
Specter has senority in the senate and brings money to PA .. that is why he'll win over Hoeffel

Specter voted for Thomas only because it was right before his 1992 election. He's since denigrated Thomas.
And I don't think there's any chance that Specter will in any way help get the right judges through. He's a damn snake and the epitomy of an arrogant senator. Abortion will be us for the rest of lifetimes now.

As if a left-leaning RINO would keep any promise offered in exchange for such an endorsement. GWB blew it. We conservatives are supposedly known for putting blame squarely where it belongs -- not blaming someone else. So we have all this blame for GWB and the R leadership here on this thread in a conservative forum.
Well it's reality check time now. Let's put the blame squarely where it belongs.
The most conservative voters in Pennsylvania voted in their primary tonight and low and behold they voted for a two-thirds speed liberal.
The Pennsylvania voters blew it!! Any other conclusion is passing the blame -- it's liberal.

Karl Rove, I hope you're happy with what you've wrought. I'm sure Rove is very scared about the self destructive far right fringe. He can only hope that Dubya and Specter can overcome their stupidity with enough moderate votes to make the fringe irrelevant.

Disgusting? Sorry the truth disgusts you. Personally, that disgusts me. Actually I made a typo, your comments are DUsgusting.
Go and have your "woe is me, the world is ending" crying jag. It's all so predictable from the head spinning knee jerk types on the right. I will look to the future and go on from there.
BTW, If I were a PA resident, I would have voted for Toomey. So I am not exactly overjoyed, but I guess it is just my nature not to go into a self pitying crying jag.

You have nailed it.
Single issue voters on our side are the reason we lose many elections we should win. And they will continue to reverse any progress we make by causing those who oppose us on more than one issue to win elected office.

You've got that right. Sphincter will most likely use this term for his victory lap. I wouldn't be surprised to see him lead the charge for gay marriage as a constitutional right.
To: Lancey Howard
Why else would the Dems want Specter on the ballot?Because they know that even if he is reelected, they can count on him to throw a monkey wrench into the conservative works...
To: Qwinn
Specter is better than most Dems -- including Hoeffel. He also owes Santorum & Dubya big.

Karl Rove, I hope you're happy with what you've wrought. Agreed. Bush just lost two Missouri votes in this family.
To: Fledermaus
My other thought on Bredesen is to watch him for a presidential run. If Kerry is thrashed badly enough, there may be a move away from the liberal's to the moderates for the good of the party. Just like the party lurched away from Dukakis to Clinton, they may lurch to a good southern moderate. And he would be fresh off of re-election just in time to start running....

Will Specter stay with the Republicans next year if switching will give the Senate to the Dems? Specter may be a pain in the butt
But he won't switch parites

Sphincter will most likely use this term for his victory lap. Yes. I expect he will push hard to leave a legacy that matches his political ideology.
To: Qwinn
"Fight" for Thomas? That's a misconception. He just didn't do to him what he did to Bork. Big difference.
But that's fine. You can feel comfortable thinking we conservatives will gain as long as we keep putting more and more moderates that want to "get along" with the Dems into power.
I won't.

"Expect to see the true liberal colors of specter now. This guy has nothing ot lose, and everything ot gain (from our adversaries)."
So - at best, Arlen will be with us 50% of the time. Which is 50% more of the time that we can count on for Hoeffel - who we KNOW will vote against everything good and right for our country.
The war is over. The Specter-folks are our countrymen again......
Hey - we don't like it and would have preferred to have Toomey win. No one like Specter less than I do, but there are a lot of dems out there that I like even less than I like Specter.
To: RobFromGa
If Specter is the better fit, then why does Santorum run better in PA? The sad part is that Specter only won his first election thanks to the Reagan landslide/Carter debacle in 1980. And now he's been saved by another conservative President. Blech.
