"If W hadn't coem and supported Spector, Toomey would have won by 3-4%"

I'd say the Bush doesn't have that much pull.

On the day that he came to town for Specter, only 2000 people showed up. Toomey, on the other hand, pulled 400 that same night and had that many more the day before. When a Congressman 'competes' with a chance to see the President and does that well, Specter doesn't stand a chance.

If Toomey beats Specter, who will we have to quote Scottish Law?

"Nice job there Josh of cutting off your nose to spite your face!"

Nah, more like willing to take a punch in the mouth because it's worth it to get Specter out of the Senate and away from the Judiciary Committee and the Appropriations Committee (he's 2nd in line for that). Can you imagine the spending that he'll do then?

One small step backwards for Republicans. One giant leap forward for conservatism.

Then your position makes no sense sinse either Specter or a Democratic chairman would be pro-choice, not pro-life.

I think his point is that Specter would be replaced by a Republican with a more conservative take on judicial issues. It's unlikely that the GOP will lose the Senate regardless of this race's outcome.

If no other reason...send Hatch a message. Hatch needs to get Toomeyed in Utah too!

I'm with you!

I hope, years from now fellow FReepers, when other RINOS get their due on election from the good voters in their states, that we will be calling it, as blanknoone coined, 'getting Toomeyed.'

"W is the reason Spector will beat Toomey."

I think that you have it backward and wrong.

Toomey is the reason that W will beat Kerry in PA. With Specter, he loses.

I'm with you. Hatch is nuts. (... too much time with Teddy?)

On Brit Hume's show, I just watched a clip of Sphincter calling Toomey a loser . What a dork.

Specter is the incumbent. That is the reason that the NRA and others that are afraid of him are backing him. Rather than throwing the bum out (and ending the fear) they enable him to continue.

The NRA has not trashed Toomey and has readily admitted that they always endorsed him in the past because he is good.

Exactly. It's like watching an abused spouse. They'd sooner stick with him than risk the unknown, even though he regularly tosses them down the stairs.

Then your position makes no sense sinse either Specter or a Democratic chairman would be pro-choice, not pro-life. Besides, this will probably be Specter's last race. I'd say the odds are good that if the Senate is tied after November, he'll switch parties to maximize his position.

=====

First, I'm under the assumption that GOP picks up seats this fall. Based on all recent information, It looks extremely likely this will happen..

Somebody posted on another thread, that in order for Democrats to takeover the senate, they must win 8 of 10 open seats. We can afford to throw this one to the wolves.

Indeed. I'm kinda torn on this. I support Toomey, it's not nearly as simple of a question as many people think.

However, if need be, Specter in the general. Even a chairman Specter is better then a chairman Lehey.

Yes, well the thing is, in this case, it's a freaking PRIMARY.

Which is exactly what Tombots didn't get.

I thought this was a closed primary. Why would any Republican with 1/2 a brain vote for Specter?

Boxer's re-elect numbers are under 50, R registration is way up, and Jones is the perfect vanilla candidate. If we can get Arnold stumping for him enough, the Cal senate race is very winable.

Uphill, but winable.

Actually, the election clearly showed that McClintock could've won. And here we have another conservative who is likely to beat an incumbent RINO.

The pattern is easy to detect, if you're interested in seeing it - conservatism wins.
