How come the paperwork on Kerry's Bronze Star Award is signed by John Lehman, Sec. of the Navy????
In addition, the date Lehman (supposedly) signed it is not on the document.
Did Kerry not get the award when Chaffee was Secretary of the Navy? If not, why not?
Did Kerry get the award 15 years late?
Or is the paperwork a "sham" and somebody made a big booboo?
I'll post the document as soon as I find it again. Maybe somebody here has it bookmarked? And, if there's already been a thread on this that I missed....please direct me to the proper thread.
Thanks!

I'm serious, though. The pic I popped up is of Sec. Chaffee, and I can see the medal-pinning pic as him from behind and as a younger man. It certainly isn't Lehman circa 1981 or later, J'Effin would be too old for that at that point
How do you know what metal he was receiveing?? Could have been one of the fake purple hearts? I checked, he was slightly injured 2/28/69; 3/5/69; and 4/17/69 busy guy getting all scratched up that way. He obviously got the Bronse Star and Silver Star at least 10 years later, he was probably begging the Navy so much, they finally gave in and said..........give the sob the metals to get him off our backs.

Thanks... I see also where in #108 somebody spotted a 2001 date for the DD-215 that I didn't see.
Still bizarre.

The admin pulled my post. Should have read it first!
An earlier post by brother fReeper Moondoggiehttp://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/11225 63/posts caught an interesting observation on John Kerrys war record. He notices that the signature on both his Citations resembles the signature of Secratary of the Navy John Lehman Secretary of the Navy from Jan 31 1969 - May 4 1972 and not from Sec. of the Navy John H. Caffee who was the Secretary of the Navy during Vietnam (Feb. 5 1981 - April 10 1987)
Thanks to a little Photoshop work, I took both of Kerrys accomodation letters for Bronze and Silver Stars, cutout the signature, ruduced down the transparency on one of the letters, lined both of them up (which is why you see it blurry with the exception of the signatures.
An Exact match, only problem is that they look like a signature from John Lehman Secratary of the Navy under Ronald Reagan and not John H. Chaffee Secretary of the Navy under Nixon
(Thanks Velveeta for the excellent find!)
Both appear to be stamped signatures, but as you can see theres a big problem. Are there any fReepers that can either explain this with proof or is Kerry pulling a fast one?

You're right, in my opinion. There is no doubt in my mind that the signature says Lehman.

"To be fair... there's no evidence of outright fraud in any of this. What we have, though, is a very odd circumstance. "Yes....very strange indeed. I can't imagine that Kerry would be so stupid as to commit fraud of this nature. It would not only ruin his chance for the whitehouse, but he would have to resign from the senate in disgrace and face criminal charges. Then again... Bill Clinton survived his disgrace and criminal activity with the help of the mainstream media.

Regarding thta "active" deal ~ Kerry was an officer. They are different than enlisted men. Most of the time in most of the branches of the service, most of your officers are RESERVISTS!
Some officers have Regular Commissions, but most have Reserve Commissions. So, they get referred to that way. It has absolutely nothing to do with their active duty status.
To: Ramius
Have you even bothered to read ALL of the threads about Kerry's medals?
"Prettied up"? The man wrote up his own medal reports and there isn't another vet, not even Audy Murphy, who garnered THREE Purple Hearts, silver and bronze stars,in four months for scratches and no, NO time missed from serving.

Somehow, I believe that the 'Dems have Sen. Kerry "Covered."
I Seriously Doubt That any "Descrepancies" will "Pan Out."
Mr Kerry, "Questionable Past Notwithstanding," will "Stand or Fall" on his CURRENT RECORD.
Mr Kerry has Voted AGAINST funding US Soldiers IN COMBAT.
THAT is His Biggest Failure as an American.
When "Our Guys" are Fighting & Dying ANYWHERE ON THE PLANET, we MIGHT "Disagree With" the Reason that they are Fighting, BUT we "Damn Well Better" Supply Them with the Tools to "Finish The Fight!!"
To Do LESS is a CRAVEN ABANDONMENT of Those who "Fight For Us," Proving That we are "Unworthy Of" the SACRIFICE MADE FOR US of Souls Worth Far More than us.

Slightly injured 4/17 ??????
????????
Kerry had left Vietnam by then!
His last "wound" was was 3/17 ... Maybe that's what SHOULD be in the record.
---
By the way: That couldn't be Chaffee handing out the medal: Chaffee's position as Sec Nav is a civilian position, and he (Chaffee would NOT be wearing a uniform at any time.
Kerry is wearing his admiral-aide's epaulet on his shoulder: so this was done that summer back home as a photo op.
Before Kerry left active duty early!

Gothcha...do any old Navy Freeper's have their papers with John Lehman's signature so that we can compare?? Good thinking, and it deserves to be repeated.
Marines, check your files, too. If you served in those days, you might have an example of Secretary Lehman's auth sig. Before I moved across the country, I would have had it for sure. Now, I am not certain.

"The admin pulled my post. Should have read it first!"
We've read the thread, cleared up the title and moved this thread to the extended news sidebar. We then deleted the duplicate posted in Breaking News.
You all are doing some good work but all you have right now is speculation. Hardly Breaking News at this point. But keep up the good work

Why? Explain please.
To: Dan from Michigan
Dan,
It's John Lehman's signature. I received a Navy Commendation Medal/Citation that was signed by John Lehman in Dec '85. This why it has taken so long to release the records.....Kerry's gotten caught and he's toast!
To: Godebert; Hon; Ragtime Cowgirl; Congressman Billybob
I disagree:
Kerry IS stupid enough, and vain enough, to believe that (especially with a Clinton-administration in the White House and running the Pentagon) that he COULD GET AWAY ith changing his records (with the year 2000 Form 215!) to "surgically enhance" his medals and his records of service 25 years before.
He just didn't foresee Freepers with enough intelligence and resources to be exposed.
To: Velveeta
Well, HIS signature certainly is legible, isn't it.
Excellent work Vel.
