Why aren't they asking the Balkans questions at the 9-11 hearings?

By T.V. Weber

Recently, retired Canadian General Lewis MacKenzie declared that “we bombed the wrong side” in the 1999 Kosovo War. MacKenzie’s disclosure followed as a logical conclusion to another recent remark by the current NATO Commander for Southern Europe, Admiral Gergory Johnson, who accused the Albanian Muslims of committing “ethnic cleansing” against the Serbs.

Columnist George Jonas, in his March 22, 2004 National Post (Canadian) article, even managed to connect the dots from Osama bin Laden’s “financial and logistic” stronghold in Albania and Kosovo…to the U.S./NATO bombing and occupation on behalf of the KLA—a narcoterrorist/Islamic-extremist organization sponsored by Osama bin Laden’s al-Qaeda…and, from there, to the heinous kamikaze raids against the Twin Towers.

It has taken five years, but people are finally beginning to notice what Alida and I have been writing about since March, 1999.

9-11 Hearing Committee

Unfortunately, none of the people who are ready to face facts about the ongoing catastrophe in the Balkans are on the 9-11 hearing commission. Obviously, the 9-11 hearings are a sham and could not possibly be anything other than a sham. These hearings are being conducted in 2004 for one reason and one reason only: because it is a presidential election year, and a Republican president is up for reelection. The Democrats want to deflect the blame from themselves, and to find something that will make the president look bad.

Any reasonably objective hearing would begin, not with American’s lack of preparation for an al-Qaeda attack, but with America’s misadventures in the Balkans that paved the way for such an attack.

What Led to 9-11 ?

Recalling the Bosnian conflict of the mid-1990s, we find Muslim after Muslim complaining that non-Muslims in general, and the Serbs in particular, were bound to oppress Muslims, and to favor Christians over Muslims, at every possible opportunity. These “poor Muslims” knew exactly how to portray themselves as the victims, and how to play the picture of outraged innocence whenever the video crews of the “Clinton News Network”—or the BBC or the ITN—were on the scene. Somewhere—in terrorist training facilities or the like—key operatives learned how to fill in the missing details by means of carefully coached fake witnesses, phony translators, fabricated evidence, and incidents elaborately stage-managed to create the totally false impression that these hapless Muslims were being driven off their rightfully-owned property or that those horrible Serbs were slaughtering Muslims en masse. Considering all of those claims of oppression and persecution, it was surprising to see how many Muslims still remained in the Balkans so long after the collapse of the Ottoman Empire.

As the 1990s progressed, the news stories clearly revealed that the Muslim population was, and is, large and rapidly increasing, while the beleaguered Serb population is nowhere numerous and has long been dwindling.

We are aware that anchorpersons, correspondents, pundits, and other blow-dried and over-promoted media mannequins are not being paid megabucks just to show up on camera and look cute. No, they are being paid handsomely for their ability to continue delivering the most egregious propaganda with a straight face and an authoritative tone. Even so, it must have taken unusual talent in that regard for them to be able to accuse the Serbs of genocide against Muslims, while their own programs continually showed ever-increasing throngs of Muslims, and fewer and fewer Serbs! What kind of genocide was that? Even in 1999, the answer should have been obvious.

During the early 1990s, with the outbreak of war in Croatia that accompanied the disintegration of the former Yugoslavia, Americans suddenly started to hear accusations against the Serbs. Of course, no one followed up on who was making those accusations and why, nor did anyone trouble to verify the facts. Once the long civil war in Bosnia was under way, we were taking the word of the Islamic extremists as “gospel”—or perhaps we should say “koran”. At this point, Clinton had found a new friend in Alija Izetbegovic, who had been a Nazi in World War II—someone who would probably have been unable to get lawful permanent residence in the United States for that very reason. One could hardly even have called him a “former” Nazi, in that he remained unrepentant.

Fast-forward a few years to 1999. The KLA have been taken off the U.S. State Department’s list of “terrorist organizations.” That pesky restriction no longer stands in the way of casting them in a real-life version of “Wag the Dog.” Suddenly, Clinton is in impeachmentville. He somehow intimidates the Senate into letting him off, but now it’s time for damage control. He takes advantage of his status as Commander-in-Chief to show how presidential he can be. However, only his incredible tales about the Serbs seem to get any traction with the American public. The Chief Perjuror played it so well that he had the American people beliving that a new Holocaust was on the horizon, and that we could stop it just by bombing the Serbs sufficiently long and hard.

Don’t Feed the Bears: Appeasement Whets a Predator’s Appetite

Clinton’s support of radical Islam was a form of appeasement. Clinton was so anxious to create a “legacy” other than the Monica Lewinsky scandal that—to make a long story short—he ended up leaving us with Ground Zero instead.

Our readers may recall Clinton’s ill-conceived, haphazard, and megalomaniacal efforts to bring “peace in the Middle East.” Clinton’s “peacemaking” efforts foundered on many obstacles. One of them seemed to be the often-stated perception that the U.S. constantly favors Israel with military and other aid at the expense of the Muslim world.

If anything, the U.S. has given a far greater amount of “foreign aid”—and military interventions—on behalf of predominantly Muslim countries than it has ever given to Israel. Too often, such aid is rendered in a futile attempt to “buy peace” from adversaries who won’t stay bought. For the same reason, the U.S. constantly hamstrings Israel’s efforts to defend itself against terrorism, so much so that Israel—not to mention the American taxpayer and soldier—would arguably be in a much better position if the U.S. were to refrain from “assisting” or “influencing” either side.

Clinton evidently thought that, by allowing radical Islamists free rein to set up a stronghold in Europe, governments of other predominantly Muslim nations would figure that Clinton was on their side after all, and would go along with whatever grandstanding he wanted to do with regard to Israel.

Shades of Neville Chamberlain, who thought he had achieved “peace in our time.” It never works that way.

Every so often, an unguarded remark on the part of some Muslim warlord or government official reveals that all of this talk of favoritism toward Israel is just a smoke screen for their real enmity, which is aimed at the very existence of Israel and of its Jewish inhabitants.

Not so long ago, visitors to Yellowstone National Park would return to their cars only to find them surrounded by bears. Not only were the bears losing their natural fear of human beings, but also, as time went on, these clever animals even began to devise distinct techniques for breaking into each brand of automobile to retrieve the food that their noses told them was inside. Eventually, mother bears were even observed teaching those skills to their cubs.

How did the bears get to be such a problem?

Some decades ago, the standard “stupid human trick” for a departing tourist was to feed the bears a few crackers to get them to move away from the car so that the owner can get in and drive away.

The obvious problem is: when do you stop? Only if the driver is able to lure the bears away from the car with crackers, and hurry back to the driver’s seat while the bears are still eating, will the ploy work. Otherwise, the bears may turn on the tourist as soon as the crackers run out.

Today, park officials vehemently discourage tourists from feeding the bears, and from leaving any food where bears can get it—and well they should. Park rangers and naturalists realized that appeasement does not work with bears or any other dangerous predators. It only whets their appetite, dispels their fear of human beings, and makes them horribly dangerous. Unfortunately, too few of our government officials have learned the same vital lesson.

So when the supply of “crackers” (i.e., military aid) began to run out for al-Qaeda in the Balkans, there was no more Mr. Nice Guy from Osama bin Laden.

So Why Were There No Kosovo Hearings?

It seems to be a tradition: Democrats are always given carte blanche to use or misuse the American military for whatever fool’s errand they have in mind. Woodrow Wilson—who promised to stay out of World War I if reelected—not only broke that promise, but also jailed those who opposed American involvement in that war. Franklin Roosevelt was given a free pass for setting up the chain of events that led up to Pearl Harbor. A recent political cartoon demonstrated the folly of the 9-11 hearings by putting the same criticism to Roosevelt’s actions in World War II, by suggesting that FDR invaded Germany to take the public’s mind off his failure to make progress against the Japanese. Truman remained relatively popular during the Korean War, and it took several years before LBJ’s Vietnam War became his undoing.

Likewise, no one seems to want to apply the same standard of questioning to Clinton, regarding his military actions and his policies regarding terrorists, as they are doing to Bush. Let’s see what I would be asking Clinton if I were on 9-11 hearing committee:

Q. Mr. Clinton, isn’t true that you were given the opportunity to have bin Laden extradited to US custody, but you declined the offer?

After he does his usual song and dance about not being sure whether he could hold bin Laden, I would ask:

Q. Isn’t it true that your administration had already issued two indictments against bin Laden?

Q. Isn’t it true that, until 1998, the Kosovo Liberation Army, or KLA, was on the U.S. State Department’s list as a terrorist organization closely affiliated with bin Laden’s al-Qaeda organization?

Q. Isn’t it true that you supported the KLA war effort in Kosovo, while knowing full well that bin Laden was also supporting the KLA?

Q. Isn’t it true that, during your entire adminstration, you made it a point to support only those persons and organizations who act as though there is no difference between right and wrong?

Assuming that question survived the predictable objection of Mr. Clinton’s counsel, I would follow up by asking:

Q. Can you give us an example of anyone among your associates—other than Monica Lewinski—who seemed to know right from wrong?

After drawing everyone’s attention to the connection between his amoral personal life and his equally amoral conduct of public affairs, I would ask:

Q. So why did you take Osama bin Laden’s side in Kosovo?

No doubt, at this point, Clinton would give his song and dance about “ethnic cleansing.” So, my next question would be:

Q. Exactly what do you mean by “ethnic cleansing,” and how did you know it was occurring?

This would leave the former president in a box. He could either back-pedal by trying to define “ethnic cleansing” broadly enough to include something benign, and thus implicate himself as starting a senseless war.

Alternatively, he could try to explain that another Holocaust was already n progress, dramatizing it further with his tales of “mass graves.”

Likely he would choose the latter, in which case I would ask:

Q. Where are these “mass graves”?

Double Standard

The Democrats have been shrieking that no one has found any “weapons of mass destruction” in Iraq. That is no surprise, as Hussein was given plenty of time to hide them very carefully, or to export them for use by other organizations or regimes. He may even have been totally disarmed by the time of the war. So what!

Our position from the get-go has been that Iraq was not the best target. Hussein did have a nasty habit of paying a few thousand dollars to the families of terrorists who went on successful suicide missions. He was certainly no friend of the U.S.

However, there are a number of other countries, including two in the Balkans, that pose a far greater threat in their support of al-Qaeda and its ilk.

Yet, the decade of the 1990s was a new low in American foreign policy. We vilified and bombed one of the most consistent US allies to support an enemy against whom we have taken arms far back as the Jefferson administration. The Serbs have been our allies, both in general and on the battlefield during each world war. Radical Islam was the creed of the Barbary Pirates whom Jefferson’s Marines fought. It was the creed of our WW I enemy, the Ottoman Turks. During WW II, the Muslims of the Balkans and much of the Middle East were part of the Nazi-Fascist Axis. The Iranian kidnappers, who invaded the US Embassy in Tehran, in 1979, were radical Muslims.

Yet, no investigative committee is asking the right people any serious questions about why we supported radical Islam in Bosnia and Kosovo. Certainly those who decided to commit the power and might of the U.S. government and military—and its NATO allies—to act on behalf of radical Islamic terrorism in the Balkans, are far more culpable than those in the new administration who may or may not have done all they could to prevent the 9-11 kamikaze attacks.

In areas where the KLA is attacking Serbs the Serb army should be allowed back in to kill them off.

The current situation lends itself to this solution. The NATO troops currently in Kosovo could monitor the actions of the Serb Army in order to dissuade any questions about the Serbs.

Of course, the Serbs will have quite a chore digging out all of the Albanians who fled their own nation and illegally entered the Serbian province of Kosovo-Metohija, but they've got the patience to see the task through to its end.

ahem, Iran, Saudi Arabia, weapons smuggling, drugs, sabotage within our own government it'll take another 3 Rep presidential terms to clean out.

Fear not. The 911 commission is either dumber than rocks or setup by the administration to "force" their hand in exposing the bent one & his best buds.

Just figured out the OK City connection? please.

Keep the thread bumped...maybe Tony Snow will talk about Kosovo again today.

This is the story (actually, one of many) the media won't touch. They've come to believe in the myth of the "successful war in Kosovo" and nothing will shake that perception. .

A few points

1) Mujahedin fighters in Bosnia and Kosovo made up a small percentage of the total Muslim fighters. If they were greater the Serbs would have had hundreds, if not thousands, of bodies and passports to show the world. They never had more than a few here and there.

2) The Muj fighters didn't arrive en mass to Bosnia until 1993 with the Serbs attacking from one side and Croats the other, while the West sat back and watched. No Serb attacks in Spring 1992 = few, if any, Muj in Bosnia.

3) Iran's backing of the Muslims came about largely as a result of the UN arms embargo that kept the Muslims at an extreme disadvantage against the JNA-backed Serbs and Croatia-backed HVO. Balkan Muslims first turned to the West for help and then, upon receiving none, turned to Iran. If the guns come from Allah the advice can't be far behind.

4) Most of the KLA was also local, not Muj import.

There were certainly fanatical foreign elements on the Muslims side in the Balkans, and I have no problem with them being killed. But to use that element as justification for the killing and expulsion of the secular local majority doesn't wash.

I read a quote from the Georgetown Policy Review (or something similar, I forget the exact name), which suggested that - for liberals - the Kosovo war was seen as a strategic ploy to curry favor in the Moslem world, and that the alleged anti-ethnic-cleansing motive was more for public consumption. As for the success of the ploy, two years later the planes flew into the Twin Towers.

"The NATO troops currently in Kosovo could monitor the actions of the Serb Army in order to dissuade any questions about the Serbs."

This is what happened in 2000 in the Buffer Zone when the UCPMB (or something like that) was routed by Serb forces who re-took the region.

I can see it working again in Kosovo now. Much needed.

I can easily see the Left using Bosnia and Kosovo to try again to suck up to the Islamic world. If that was their intention then among Balkan Muslims it worked as the US is well-liked. As far as the rest of the Muslim world is concerned, NATO might as well have sided with the Serbs and levelled Screbrenica themselves!

I really see this as a useless war with respect to the US because it had nothing to do with our national security. How the libs say this war was honorable and not Iraq smacks with racism in my eyes. Nothing is ever said about these soldiers not being on the hunt for UBL is it?

Foreign volunteers in Army B&H

by Michal Warczakowski

Muslim Liberation Brigades

Originated from the dissolved Armija Republike BH 3, Korpus Odred "el-Mudzahedin", the largest mujahedin unit during the war. From the end of 1995 these brigades became subordinated to the Corps. Their respective sizes were raised from 1 500 troops to around 2 000 troops each. The nucleus of each brigade consist of a core of foreign mujahedin, with the rest being composed of Bosnian Islamists. Most of the foreign Mujahedin are members of the Iranian-sponsored "al-Quds" formations that were deployed in BiH by Iran, following intensive training and indoctrination at terrorist training facilities in Iran, Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Sudan. All in all the three Muslim Liberation Brigades contained over 8 000 troops (as of 1996).

They are as follows:

7th Muslim Liberation Brigade of the 3-rd Corps (HQ in Zenica). In mid-April of 1996 it became mechanized, and it contained the following units:

Elements of the 319-th Brigade

Elements of the 330-th Brigade

Three maneuver battalions

A Green Beret company (mujahedin-dominated Islamist Special Forces)

A tank company

9th Muslim Liberation Brigade of the 2-nd (Tuzla-based) Corps (HQ in Travnik)

4th Muslim Liberation Brigade of the 4-th Corps (HQ in Konjic)

In 1996 an additional fourth Muslim Liberation Brigade was raised. It was designated as the 17th Muslim Light Brigade of the 1st Corps in Sarajevo.

In December of 1995 additional mujahedin formations were raised by Bosnian Muslims. These units had a cadre of foreign mujahedin, but most of the lower ranks were made up of Bosnian Muslims. By June of 1996 there were at least 10 such units in the ABiH (not including the four previously mentioned Muslim Liberation Brigades).

They are as follows:

807th Muslim Liberation Brigade of the 81-st Division (HQ in Gorazde), it was sworn-in at Gorazde on 20 December, 1995.

117th Brigade "Dzemisetski Golubovi" (HQ in Lukovac)

119th Special Forces Mudzahedin Brigade (HQ in Banovici). This brigade was divided into two task forces know as "Tigrici" and "Zelena Strela"

203rd Brigade (HQ in Tesanj). This brigade was composed of three "independent mudzahedin special task forces" named "Kritce", "Vitezovi", and "Tigrovi".

204th Light Brigade "Citloviki Vukovi" (HQ in Citlukl)

115th Muslim Brigade (forward HQ in Vogosc)

17th Muslim Light Brigade of the 14-th Division of the 1-st Corps (HQ in Pazaric)

379th Motorized Brigade of the 37-th Division (HQ in Tesanj). This unit is considered to be elite on Bosnian standards.

Operational Group "Zivinicke Ose" (HQ in Zivinice)

An unspecified Operational Group with HQ in Tuzla; it contained two special task forces named "Janicari" and "Taut". This Operational Group is independent of the Tuzla-based 2nd Corps

There are some estimated 750 to 1 000 foreign mujahedin serving in each of these 10 above-mentioned units.

Foreign mujahedin form the core of recon-sabotuer and other special operation forces units of the ABiH, as well as of the Muslim Defense Force of the SDA. The latter included (in 1996) over 1 000 Bosnian Muslims trained and indoctrinated abroad. Foreign mujahedin also play a prominent part in training the ABiH special forces, and they are often found in prominent positions in ABiH serving as intelligence officers, religious commissars, and operational commanders of special operations forces units.

Many mujahedins of the type mentioned above are found in the following units:

1st Bosniak Brigade "Nocne Ptice". This is a highly specialized "mother unit", and includes a wide variety of experts and specialists from Turkey, Egypt, Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Lebanon.

3rd Corps. There is a training unit for both foreign mujahedins and Bosnian Islamists that forms part of the 3-rd Corps. This unit is know as the "G" Force (the G stands for Gazi'a which is Arabic for retribution, retaliation, or punishment). Some formerly separate mujahedin units like "Martyrs' Detachment" and the Ansar Force were incorporated into "G" Force. In spite of its training character, "G" Force can be deployed in combat. The unit's cadre seems to be composed of a group of Saudi phanatics, while most the menpower is drawn from an ABiH recon-sabotage battalion from Vukovije. Abu-Ma'ali was presumably the force's commander (as of 1996).

Foreign Mujahedin in the Bihac Pocket

The Bihac Pocket had (and probably still has) an unusually high saturation of foreign mujahedin. This was due to the fact that they were intentionally send there by Izetbegovic's administration in order to prevent the pocket's loss to the rebel Muslim forces of Fikret Abdic. Among other things, they were assigned the task of reinforcing the local units' loyalty to Sarajevo, as the local Muslims often opted for massive desertions to the Abdic camp. Majority of the mujahedin reached the enclave by being smuggled by UN and other international relief organizations, or by being flown-in on illicit arms shipments.

As of 1996 the key mujahedin units of the 5th Corps were as follows:

501st Mountain Brigade IDG "Tigrovi"

503rd Mountain Brigade IDG "Caruge"

505th Mountain Brigade IDG "Tajfun", "Hamze", "Balije"

511th Light Brigade IDC "Apaci"

All of these brigades are elite by designation (IDG or IDC, with IDC being the smaller of the two), and capable of recon, sabotage, and of airborne-heliborne (desant) operations. There are an estimated 1 200 to 1 500 foreign mujahedin serving in each of these brigades.

In mid-1993 the Handzar Division was raised in Sarajevo. The division's chief task was to serve as presidential guards, and as security for other important Bosnian Muslim leaders. The division was composed of two bodies of troops; the Handzar troops in Sarajevo numbered between 2 500 and 3 000, and were considered as elite on ABiH standards. The second body of the division's troops was a "back-up force" of 6 000 to 7 500 troops stationed in Fojnica. Unlike its SS predecessor, this new Handzar Division was made up largely of Muslims from outside of BiH. Most of them were ethnic Albanians, however, the highest-ranking positions were filled with mujahedin veterans from Afghanistan and Pakistan. By 1995 elements of the division were already involved in special operations actions on the front-line, often alongside foreign mujahedin. Also in 1995 the transfer to Albania of most of the division's ethnic Albanian personnel was initiated.

If you rely upon nutjob Serb Nationalist websites, your views will suffer accordingly.

The Serbs went to war in Bosnia against the Turks, and remained so through 1995.

You may just as well try to justify the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan by claiming Moscow was fighting Jihadists and America backed the wrong side - same BS logic, same BS conclusion.

This is happening under EU watch .

What photographs?

Like JCB said, picture US casualties in Bosnia or Kosovo, and then compare that to our casualties in Afghanistan or Iraq. On one hand, you've got peacetime casualty figures, and on the other, combat operations.

Bosnia and Kosovo never turned into what Iraq is turning into, and it didn't because the "Mujahadeen" hype was just that: hype. They were there, but never in large enough numbers to effect the course of the war, and they were invited to leave immediately thereafter, save a few who managed to get themselves hitched and watched closely by various intelligence agencies for their troubles.

Doesn't look like they've done anything in regards to the infidels or apostate Bosnian Muslims in their midst since 1996, either.

The jihadist label just doesn't have enough reality glue to make it stick to Bosnia.

Ok, now tell me this. Bosnia is surrounded by Croatia and Yugoslavia. How did weapons & fighters find their way into Bosnia through "hostile" areas?

When did Iran purchase C-130s? Can C-130 reach Tuzla airport from Iran, bypassing NATO countries such as Turkey and/or Greece? Are Iranian C-130 pilots that good both in English and in night landings?

Bosnian muslims claimed it was serbian agression that was going on. But then, why did they fight croats? Why did muslims under command of Fikret Abdic from northwestern Bosnia fight shoulder to shoulder with serbs against Izetbegovic's 5th corp in Bihac? There was entire unit of serbian bosnian army called "Mehmed Selimovic", by writer who explicitly stated his serbian origin. These muslims were and are respected by all serbs. That much on serbian agression.

Srebrenica question

Srebrenica was great serbian mistake. We shouldn't have executed those scumbags. Srebrenica was used to cover the greatest ethnic cleansing performed by Croatia against Krajina Serbs. Well over 250 000 people in one long line. My relatives (since I'm from there) were bombed by artilery and croatian air forces. trip took 8 days, and usualy you get it in one day. My relatives had no socks in their boots once they were able to remove boots. In Serbia. Awful. What croatian fascist in WW2 didn't do, croatian fascist in 1995 did.
One more thing about Srebrenica. It was declared by UN to be the safe zone. That means, no attacks on it, but also no army in it. and no attacks from within it. But that was going on all the way from St. George's day in 1992, to 1995. Naser Oric (now in International court for crimes in Yugoslavia) and his thugs would raid serbian villages around srebrenica, taking no prisoners (please surf the sites I posted, to see more). They were killing women and children. Plundering. Almost 2000 dead serbs from St. george's day (6th may) 1992 to July 1995.
In 1995, General Mladic offered them to surrender, guaranteening their lives in presence of UN, recorded by BBC. They refused. In fact, they did one of the most complicated millitary operations - breaktrough. Serbs left one corridor for muslims, taking positions in surronding hills. So, serbs were blasting hell out of the muslim fighters. Most of them was killed there. In breaktrough. Just small part was executed in rage, as revenge, by local serbs. It was completely not in accordance to serbian millitary tradition. But our chain of command was almost in collapse.
So, about 5000 muslims reached Tuzla, and madia war did the rest. Muslim civilians were loaded on serbian and UN buses and sent to muslim held territory. And gas was provided by serbs, although since Milosevic put up sanctions against bosnian serbs in 1994, it was so precious. Hell, our own refugees from western bosnia and Krajina, just 3 weeks after srebrenica had no gas enough.

Arming of Bosnian muslims is another media hoax to divert attraction from the real issues.

Since Croat Tito broke up with Stalin 1948 Bosnia became Yugoslavia's arms caches. Ammunition Factories were placed there, stockpiles also. YU doctrine envisioned the following:

_Warszaw pact attack, several days resistance in Serbia/ Croatia, retreat of all forces to Bosnia and using stockpiles of weapons cached in central Bosnia. Tito's main comand bunker was around Bugojno, where Croats and Muslims fiercely fought in this war. Guess why?

Bosnian Muslims got hold of all these caches and were not without weapons. Fightings with Croats was for control of those weapons caches and command and control centers. Serbs lived in the areas theat were expected to be captured by Soviets and there were no caches.

American airlift of Iranian weapons into Bosnia, a.k.a. Irangate II is important for different reason: By siding with Mullas for moolah, Clinon opened American defense to Islamists.

Even stranger story is landing of Iranian cargo jets to Serbia with Milosevic permission and transport of unknown goods to Bosnia via trucks.

Milosevic was no different than Clinton, he also could not resist mooolah call. This was treason of national interests, both of them.
