The BBC appears to realize that it has serious problem with its left-wing bias. Regrettably, the Beeb is not publicly acknowledging the problem, and is keeping secret its internal response. Even more regrettably, the action it is taking to remediate the problem is likely to be completely ineffectual.
As reported by the Sunday Times (UK) today, the BBC is secretly sending all their news journalists on courses to learn impartiality.
"Those who have attended say that the aim is to encourage reporters and producers to think outside the left-leaning liberal mentality with which many associate the corporation and to make sure a broader range of views is reflected."
This of course, begs the question as to whether left wing journalists can actually be taught how to be more fair and balanced. Perhaps a far better and more effective method for bringing balance to the Biased Broadcasting Corporation, would be to purge many of its left wing staff. and introduce more executives and reporters with a right-of-centre mentality. Needless to say, their union would kick up a fuss, and since unions are left wing entities it would most probably be an impossible task to achieve.

What an astonishing suggestion..that hiring more conservative reporters and firing some left wing ones would be better than trying to get leftys to try to "think" outside the box!

LOL!
They have to balance out all the diversity classes that are mandated.

Bloody Marvelous! Thank you so much.
They should do very well, indeed.
Quite Right!
Yes!
That Means a bit of alright, considering the whole media establishment is off its head to the left! They have ambitions to push the pattern of society further toward communism. Bravo! To the ones who "report" & do not soap box.

Maybe they could have an exchange program with Fox News. Send the BBC people to FNC HQ -- that'll blow their minds for sure!

What if all their reporters trip a circuit breaker on the cognitive dissonance after attending an "impartiality" class right after the "diversity" class?

Imagine David Gregory and Terry Moran, Peter Jennings and Dan Rather, Katie Couric and Charlie Gibson, all attending impartiality class.
It will never happen in America.

Sure. BBC news staff are predominatly leftys, approx 90%. Whats wrong with making it 50/50. Atleast that way you get some kind of balance.
Sending leftwingers for re-education, who are apparently cynical about impartiality in the first place, seems a bigger wasted of time.

I ,of course, had my tongue firmly in my cheek. My son just came back from a visit to London and was dismayed by BBC!I listened on my computer enough during major combat to realize that it was more left wing than even our major networks.

I think the BBC is about as liberal as CNN International. Most American viewers only get a glimpse of this network when travelling abroad. It's like al-Jazeera in English.

It is awful. It's like the face of America constantly telling the rest of the world that President Bush is a horrible person.
What are they to think? There's no competing view available.

As reported by the Sunday Times (UK) today, the BBC is secretly sending all their news journalists on courses to learn impartiality."Balance" and "impartiality" are nonsense when it comes to "reporting". There are only "truth" and "lies". The media actually knows how to "report". It chooses not to.
Rather than sending its "journalists" to "impartiality" courses, the BBC (and the rest of the media) should send its editors to "truth" courses. Then the propaganda stories would be killed by editors and we'd get some real reporting.
An independent media is meaningless if it does not report the truth.

I guess the BBC wants to balance the truth with lies...or is it lies with some truth?

Reminds me of PBS in the 60's and 70's. When complaints of liberal bias became to much to ignore, PBS took on their token conservative ( Bill Buckley) and once a year ,around funding time, would grudgingly do a few favorable shows about Black conservatives or a profile of Barry Goldwater.
Rest of the time it was Frontline, P.O.V. and the usual very liberal news programing.
