Oh very interesting! You'll have to let me know what you discover!
My mother's family (both sides) are from Alsace (eastern France). When I expressed interest in that ancestry, her response was they were "just a bunch of peasants" LOL.. But, many records were destroyed between the 2 Wars which would probably make such a task exceedingly difficult. My grandfather's hometown was absolutely levelled during WWII.
My father's side though- has a alot of info and records. He even wrote a little book on one branch with some historical relevance.
Anyway- it's just really alot of fun!

Alsace is a favorite region of aggressors to receive a pasting throughout Western European history. We are so fortunate here in America not to live in a land ravaged extensively by war.

"Just a bunch of peasants" Mine too! Of course both of the "dirt farmers" signed the Bradford Accords, one fought at Fort Pitt the other spent the winter at Valley Forge....
We forget it's this "BUNCH on peasants/dirt farmers that made our country what it is.....Of the people, by the people, for the people......
Thank God! Don't really want any royalty in the family....Good hard working simple folk is just fine here.
