Oh my, I thought the co-operate with the nice terrorists and maybe they will let you live argument was finally settled by Todd Beamer. Where were you on 911, sensitivity class?

Another islamo-wacko miscalculation. These savages believed Saddam's and Osama's propaganda, that "infidels" are soft, that we're all cowards, that we'll stop and run at the sight of blood.

If you are American or Christian, they want you (and everyone you love) DEAD!

Or Jewish, or rabidly opposed to them in any way.

I have sent a message to the Italian Embassy stampa@itwash.org to be forwarded to his family.

In my message I passed my prayers and gratitude for this Hero.

My son's will hear his story tonight when I get home.

I heard it said best on the radion yesterday; here we are investigating the possible source of water dated a million years ago on Mars, and these losers haven't yet figured out how to manufacture a functional running toilet.

Why Bravo? This guy miscalculated. It doesn't look like they were necessarily going to kill them. If the others come home safe, was it still a good move?

Your question is a good one. As a former Naval aviator, part of the training we went through in SERE (Survival, Evasion, Resistance, and Escape - lessons learned from Vietnam POW's) was not be exhibit type 'A' personality traits if you want to survive in captivity. That does not mean giving your captures whatever they want, but being a hard head give the enemy a reason to kill you, if for nothing else but to show the other prisoners their place.

The objective is to survive, get home, and in the process, give the enemy as little as possible that he can use against you or your cause. Thats a little different from the old 'Name, Rank, Serial Number' only, no matter what torture or threat you face.

A very brave and honorable man who, though a civilian, brought pride to his country in time of war.

Funny, he didn't say " Now I show you how a member of the European Union knows how to die"

However - this man was GOING to die, no matter what he said or did. Mr. Quattrocchi just galvanized a nation with his statement... a legacy that will live forever.

If I'm going to die anyway, I might as well die fighting.

Their predecessors in the Roman Empire not only destroyed the Carthaginian (Tunisian) Army at Zama, they leveled Carthage and salted down its soil so that nothing would ever again grow there.

the salt thing is argueable, but yes, they got their turbans handed to them.

The most amazing thing about this, now that I think about it, is that the idiot terrorists gave this tape over to Al-J!! Had they just dumped his body somewhere, nobody would be the wiser, and the Italian Government would be taking it in the shorts over their involvement in Iraq. But now the world knows that this guy died an absolute hero, Italians are going to be majorly ticked (not a good thing), and we will all see that the terrorists had to shoot a hooded man in the back of the neck--after he mouthed off to them. What absolute animals, and what absolute idiots.

I imagine "Fabrizio" is going to be a very popular child's name in Italy for the next few years.

this man was GOING to die, no matter what

Hard to say, and I am not criticizing him. But he was likely not trained to deal with the situation he found himself in. Not that many of us are. You never know the true intentions of your captors, if they are out to just kill, or to try to get political leverage. You also don't know their mental stability. They are obviously people you don't want to upset when they have you unarmed at the end of a gun.

What he did was an act of defiance, and it may galvanize a nation as you say. It might also have led to his own end, and may result in the deaths of his three friends.

He is a hero, but he might have been a live hero had things played out differently. He may have just been a type 'A' from the start and that might be why he was singled out. Hard to say until more facts come in.

Maybe we could modernize the old story/legend.

This time we destroy the fanatics at Fullujah and sown their streets and fields with Uranium 237.

With the half-life of radioactive material, a thousand years from now there wll be no doubt about whether or not we "salted" our enemies territory!

I understand the need for the mindset "return with honor, and I respect it. In these cases, the mission is foremost, with true concern for the team. That explains why every special ops guy I meet is quiet, reserved in public, not exactly a "firebrand" - it's bad for the mission if everybody dies because one person wanted to "go out in a blaze of glory".

There is a special place in heaven for the military mindset - without it, there would be no America today.

However, there is also a place for "firebrands" - Patrick Henry, Thomas Paine - without them, there would be no liberty...

Add Fabrizio Quattrocchi to that list now...

So, Al-Jazeera TV will show an American getting his head sliced off by a Muslim extremist weilding a Knife (Daniel Pearl) but they won't release the footage from an Italian being shot. It's one more brazen example of just how much contempt/hatred Al-Jazeera TV has for American citizens.

Viva Italia.
Viva Silvio

Mi dispiace molto spezialmente per la familia del bravo signore. Questo uomo fino era il meglio d'Italia, ê il meglio d'Europa.

Moltisssimo grazia tutti amici Italiani.

Bravo Italy.
The man is a true hero.
Muslim bastards are going to pay for this.
I hope our marines get a hold of these guys. Maybe it will be Vinnie and Vito from Howard Beach. They'll know how to fix them.

God rest your soul Mr. Quattrocchi.
