After just two weeks on the air, Air America Radio, the fledgling liberal talk-radio network featuring Al Franken and Janeane Garofalo, appears to have encountered serious cash-flow problems.
The CHICAGO TRIBUNE is developing a story, insiders tell DRUDGE, on how the network was pulled off the air this morning in Chicago and Los Angeles, the network's second- and third-largest markets, because, the owner of both stations said, the network bounced a check and owes him more than $1 million! A charge the network strongly denies...
A Chicago source familiar with the situation said a Multicultural representative showed up at WNTD's offices Wednesday morning, kicked out Air America's lone staffer overseeing the network's feed to the station from New York, switched over to a Spanish-language feed, and changed the locks on the doors...
Air America filed a complaint Wednesday in New York state Supreme Court charging Multicultural with breaching their contract and seeking an injunction to force Multicultural to restore the Air America broadcast on both stations, the TRIBUNE has learned... Developing...

Damn! I lost a bet with a hardcore liberal acquaintance on this one! I gave it two more weeks than it's lasted. BWAHAHAHAA! Money well-spent on my part.

on how the network was pulled off the air this morning in Chicago and Los AngelesI'm sure the static that remained on the radio was 100% better to listen to than the fools that had been on the air until this point......

Ha, ha. I knew pinko-radio wouldn't last long. Maybe they can take out some ads on EIB or Hannity's show and try to drum up some listeners.

Could this be a FAKE story to discredit Drudge? The Millionaire Liberals are putting lots of money in this so I doubt if they would pull it so quickly.

I'm not understanding this at all. Somebody 'splain this to me please. The guvament takes our tax dollars and gives them to NPR and PBS. Given that, I figured Air America was a sure bet. Where did I go wrong?

Calling George Soros.
Wipe off the mayo and start writing a few checks on that other account (you know the tax dodging Swiss one). Othewise those Spanish and Korean speking voters might actually get to hear the truth about you socialists.

I'm sorry, I don't speak PC and will not learn. What does "Multicultural representative" mean? It means that it was a black man with blond dreadlocks wearing a daisy zipper pull and a rainbow colored skull cap with a Native American bow and arrow who answered to the name Vinnie MacO'Brien.

Personally, I wish everybody would ignore this.
AirHeadAmerica Radio has already gotten enough publicity.

It could be a fake---- but that would mean someone would have to actually find the air america brodcast through some means to disprove the story Might be tough. My young son has Rush 24/7 and is frustrated it is virtaully impossible to actually hear Frankin take a self inflicted dive into a waterless pool outside of a few area codes.
Might take a few months before we can verify if they are still on the air.

FROM THE MAJORITY REPORT WEBLOG:
As you know if you live in LA or Chicago AAR is down in those locales. There's not a lot of info about what's going on right now but I'll let you know what I know.
AAR has leased air time on WNTD (CHI) and KBLA (LA) from a radio holding company that owns both stations. I'm not privy to the details as I'm not management and our legal counsel is not in house so I can't eavesdrop on them. With that said, there is some type of contractual dispute regarding the LA station. The holding company seems to be using the Chicago station as leverage regarding the LA station. I know that AAR is seeking an injunction against the holding company's taking AAR off the air. There seems to be a lot of optimism that we will get that injunction. From the little I know of legal matters, that is an indication that, at the very least, our legal counsel feels that we are in the right in this dispute and that a judge will feel that way too. I suspect that the holding company hopes that our desire to be on air will overpower any sense that we are getting screwed contractually.
On line there are some rumors about right wing elements pressuring the holding company to pull us off the air. As much as I'd like to, I don't buy it. I think this is probably a typical hardball business scenario that is indicative of AAR's unexpected success and somebody who was betting against that success trying to renegotiate.
In the meantime, streams are available at the AAR site. Also here. You can also sign up for XM sattelite, though they cut off the majority report at 10 for alan colmes. (contact them here to complain) and we'll be on Sirius in less than a week.

How could they run out of money? They don't depend on marketing their product, they're on the sugar-daddy system. Didn't they know how much money to ask daddy Soros for, or what?
Nobody is that bad with money, not even loony libs. I smell a rat...

My reaction exactly. It was, like, you know, listening to a bunch of, you know, gum-snapping high-school sophomores complain about their -- gag me with a spoon -- parents.
