I am a confessed DUer. Having said that, you guys kill me beating up on Susan Estrich. She sucks on her own, which is why she is on Fox (same as Dick Morris) presenting herself as a Dem "strategist." Didn't she run Dukakis' campaign? You guys can have her. Uh no thanks, I can't stand the wheezing thru her ciggy shrunken windpipe when she talks.

Jeez. I was cutting cedar today and couldn't have lifted a cedar trunk of that size if I'd been on steroids. Me neither. Dubya has been a notorious gym-rat all his adult life, and I guess that's the result.

Bush: I think that analogy is false. I also happen to think that analogy sends the wrong message to our troops and sends the wrong message to the enemy.
That's considerbaly more than "I disagree"

Her mother is from Louisiana and has always voted for Democrats but she is voting for President Bush in Nov. She was furious at the way the press was questioning the President. And she thinks Kerry is ugly as sin. I get the feeling that she's not alone. I would love to know how many Dems are saying no to Kerry.

"You guys can have her."
Thanks, but I think we would pass. Maybe the Nader folks would take her...

One of the criteria in the military for advancement, as an officer, is something called command presence. I think you are quite wrong in your assessment.
I retired from the Navy as a Commander on the Captain's list. I think I know something about command presence. Bush inspires confidence from every pore. He was strong, but he also had another factor in his favor, that being thoughtfulness and empathy.
What I sensed during the speech was a desire in Bush to get on with the questions, I think he was looking forward to taking on the media. As you saw, his energy increased as the questions went on. Bush is LOVED by the Military, and his administration to a man. You don't get that without command presence.

Well, I would think if that poster doesn't like Bush, but say prefers, oh - Gramm or someother conservative - then s/he still belongs at Free Republic.
Not all conservatives have to be in love with the President to be an actual conservative. We do have to respect the office, however. And not lower to personal attacks on the man, but look to his actual message - which appears decent enough IMHO.

"The commies and America haters are going to eat him up in November (barring Divine intervention)."
So which category are you in "commies" or "America haters" or maybe you're just a "Bush hater".
Divine intervention has been requested this evening for those who insult the leader of this great nation, so if it be His will, look out for the pit you have dug for yourself.

On another thread it was said a sister of an airline pilot ripped into the press, the 911 Commission and had nothing but praise for Dubya.

http://www.scrappleface.com/MT/archives/2004/04/001665print.html Bush Failed to Stop al Qaeda During Clinton Years
by Scott Ott
(2004-04-11) -- A presidential briefing, dated August 6, 2001, and released by the White House yesterday, shows that in 1998 George W. Bush did nothing to respond to the threat of terror attacks from Usama bin Laden's al Qaeda network.
In fact, when correlated with last week's testimony before the 9/11 Commission by National Security Advisor Condoleezza Rice, it seems clear that the Bush administration had virtually no plan to act on top-secret intelligence gathered during the Clinton administration until after George W. Bush took office in 2001.
"The August 6 PDB (President's Daily Brief) clearly shows that the White House knew of potential al Qaeda threats within the United States in 1998," said an unnamed source from an unnamed, non-partisan Washington think tank, "and yet Texas Governor George W. Bush didn't do anything about these threats until after he became president."
A former senior official from in the Clinton administration, who requested anonymity, said that former President Bill Clinton was "aghast at the lethargic response of Governor Bush to the clear and present danger al Qaeda posed to our homeland in the 1990s."

he has lost his confidenceAre you drinking?
Bush was supremely confident.
He didn't do well when the press was asking him to apologize, or grovel, or find fault with his communication style. Sheesh! What ridiculous questions!!
But, the reason the American people still bond with Bush is because he's just like they are.
We don't need a starched-shirt "command presenced" geek who can't connect.
Presidents aren't automatons, or whiz-kids, like the fellatee we had for eight years.
Bush has plenty of confidence, which is why we are not cutting and running in Iraq.
