The gathering is over. So I'll say, go back and read. I ain't UAW. I support Delphi in IT. Just a lowly little handicap with emphysema who got a break after losing everything I had in a fire. You're problem is that of assumption because you didn't listen, you just reacted. Ya'll know zip about me but assumption. Never taken a dime of government handouts or unemployment in my life even when I lost my health to pneumonia and had to clean up my burnt out home myself while still recovering from it. I've pulled myself up by the bootstraps and when I got back on my feet, got my life back together and bought a house, this government's policy pulled the rug out from under me.

That's not asking for the government to give me anything. I'd be happy if they'd just stop screwing with my life everytime I get ahead. How's that for the wish if a terminally ill guy who can't just go get re-educated and won't give you the satisfaction of dying on government aid.
You wouldn't know pulling up by the bootstraps if it bit you. I'm not a greedy SOB. I never asked for anything even from my employer who has given me two raises in 4 years after I told them flatly I wouldn't come looking for one. The last one they gave me was delivered 3 weeks after they gave me the date on which my job will go to mexican slave labor. I make 30k a year and earn every dime of it in spades. I'll be lucky to make poverty wages if I can find another job here. You guys are just too full of yourselves to give a damn about anyone but yourselves. Nobody here believed any of you would go after meek little me the way you did. They said what I did several days ago - should be a commercial for Bush if that's my party, cause it'll destroy our party in the polls. So I dragged them in and showed them you. Predictable.. Add dancing chicken to your credentials.

Good grief,Havoc,do you think you are the only person who has lost an job that is on this forum?I never blamed the government. It's tough.it's scary and I'm sorry for your obvious pain but you definitely decided to drop a fly in the soup by coming on a live thread concerning the President.

Blah, blah, blah.

1) We are all terminal. It's just a matter of time.

2) We are all unemployed, except for whatever goods and services we make or provide for others. There is only one question capitalism asks: "have you served your fellow man today?" If you can't provide goods and services for which other people (many in exactly the same boat as you) are willing to trade their hard earned dollars, it isn't their fault, it's yours. We all retrain, all the time. I'm on my third career. Ultimately, you are your own employer, and it has nothing to do with "outsourcing."

3) I didn't say you wanted government favors . . . except that you don't want me to buy products that are cheapest or of higher value than those that I can buy here. Everyone wants a monopoly on what they produce and free trade for everyone else. Doesn't work that way.

The fact that you keep referring to your "posse" raises deep suspicions of your motivations. Think what you want, and let them think what they want. In November, this President is going to kick butt and stun all of them.

Keep on fighting pardner.

A few years back I was at the top of the mountain. And "fell off". I dusted myself off, started back up the mountain and found the top again. Here I sit.

I may fall off again. Not as easy as before. But if I did I'd just start climbing right back up again.

Anybody can do it.

My husband and I went through hard times. He was a director of engineering for a large coal company in Indiana. The coal fields closed due to the economy, and we had to either look for other work here or move. We chose to stay.

My husband did some consulting, and took a succession of jobs with quarries and asphalt companies. Eventually, work dried up.

My husband eneded up loading mail at an airport, and I went to work at a catalogue company taking orders. We almost lost our home.

But now, my husband has a good job with a company who does civil engineering. I started an antique business. We are on our way to getting back on track.

Rather than dwelling on how unfair things are, look for how you can overcome.
