Good old Joe: Some people see the glass as half full. Some people see it as half empty

And this has absolutely nothing to do with my stated observations.

Nice try.

Wouldn't go that far; but when it's my life and livelihood at stake, I'd very much consider nominating someone other than bush or voting independant. I don't see the sense in voting for someone at the moment that puts me out on the streets and tells me it's good for me. Especially when I've worked so hard to get where I am. And there are those far worse off than I am. Some respond privately and publicly with sympathies I don't want. I want my job and that ain't likely to happen. But what about all these others that have already been ruined and those that will be while they're disowned for being Americans - in America. That's just absolutely immoral. And we have an Ammendment to the Constitution that deals with it imo.

It was my understanding that Bush goes to bed at 9. Most people are tired before they go to bed. Therefore, he would appear tired, if he was giving a press conference at 8.

Bush is currently at 46% vs 46% on the Rasmussen poll. Want to depend on that poll? Say with Friday's poll?

If so, I think that Bush's numbers will improve by 2 or more, making it 48% to 44%? What do you think?

I probably will not have access to a computer until late that night.

I'm an American being disowned in America for not being Mexican. There's some irony in there somewhere

You've been using FR as an ongoing therapy session for the past week.

Whining and hand-wringing is such an embarrassing thing to watch, Havoc.

Please, stop.

"I swear, prairie, I've never heard such venom from the left for a president. They ALL seem to have forgotten AQ and don't have an ounce of venom left for the terrorists."

That's why it's especially important for Bush to stand and deliver. Answer the damned critics, and help set the tone of the public debate on the Iraq war. Not hide for months at a time.

I don't think Bush thinks he made any mistakes in handling all of this. I think he is proud of what is has accomplished. He lacked the verbal skill to handle the question given that without giving the impression of hauteur and hubris.

If it had been me, I would have said it was a mistake not to move more forcefully pre 9-11 to declare Al Quida a clear and present danger, and even with the obvious teeth knashing of the usual suspects, have declared to the Taliban, that the perp needed to be given up, and the terror camps closed, or the gloves would come off. I should have been willing to take the heat that most would have condemned me as a trigger happy cowboy. I would have said that it was a mistake that I didn't let the essential Bush be Bush earlier. But it is better late than never, and I have learned from that mistake, and never again will I make that mistake, even if it costs me re-election. The matter is simply too important for our nation for me to do anything other than exercise my best judgment as to what is right, whatever the political consequences.

That is what I would have said.

Did Ashcroft ever finger the guy in the clinton admin that wrote memo dictating the "tie our hands behind our back" stategy of going after bin laden?

Yes, it is Jamie Gorlich one of the 9-11 Commissioners. Just wrote an email to the 9-11 Comission asking when we could expect Ms Gorlich resignation since she has a clear conflict of intrest being on a Comission investigating an event she is complicit in causing.

So called delivery is important because it demonstrates that he's on top of things, for his supporters. He will lose the election based on how connects with the conservative base. If he's found lacking, he could very well lose in November, and JFK and the Dems win by default.

Clinton had a pretty good delivery, but Janet Reno in her unbridled stupidity today, slipped up and let the whole world know Clinton wasn't "on top of things" when it came to foreign policy.

Personal attacks? When someone says that because I though Bush's performance was poor in areas tonight that I'm essentially a French-loving Kerry fan thats not? Sorry, being called a liberal, even indirectly, on a conservative board is fighting words. And being called it just because I think the President (who I support) could do better is just nuts.
That's what I called ridiculous.

I didn't take notes during the Q&A period so don't remember exactly which questions they occurred on, but Bush at times talked around the question and didn't answer it, got defensive and back on his heels, should've confronted the press more directly, at times seemed to forget the question, etc. If I get a chance to see it again I'll be sure to take notes and send you an itemized list.

Like I said, I thought his speech was fabulous but the Q&A section was, IMHO, unfortunate.

Was it? Your "understanding" that is?

What else is your "understanding"? Oh, yeah, that he's a "poor communicator".

I would have said it was a mistake to call on so many assholes in one press conference and gone to the next guy.

IMHO, to put it mildly, this isn't doing him a bit of good.

That "brown-skinned" comment got your panties in a wad, I'll bet.

You're one to speak. Try stopping your own uncalled for, unprovoked vile attacks and insinuations.

I think you need to watch the rerun, Jorge.
You must have been expecting something extraordinary to be so severely disappointed in the way he handled himself.
He was himself. Not silver tongued, but resolute, passionate and honest. Himself.

You know what? All I really care about IN THE END is that he convinces enough people to stick by him through this war on terrorism and in Iraq.

And that he convinces Americans to give him a second term come November.

If these problems I see with his being inarticulate and shaky when it comes to making his case are NOT significant when it comes to getting his message across to the American people..then I could care less.

I JUST want him to WIN a second term. I pray for that almost everyday.

We could never really be friends if you were a nuke em kind of guy. It takes a certain maturity and wisdom to be as tough as nails, but fair and caring about all of our species on this planet. I don't need to be a Christian or a believer in God to believe that. Frankly, I think it is near genetic. I have my Dad's genes, for which I thank him.
