Montreal Canadiens fans boo US anthem again (Rude Frogs alert)

Exerpted from the article
A Montreal crowd that has rarely been so noisy or so partisan did its raucous best to tip the balance in favour of the reeling Canadiens. They booed the U.S. anthem (presumably for reasons that had more to do with hockey than with the war in Iraq) they sang the Canadian anthem in a city where that tune has often been booed and they almost blew the roof off the Phone Booth when Kovalev cranked it up.

I don't care if it had to do with hockey - it's rude and makes Canada look really bad. Grow up froggies.

Yes, it does make them look horrible and classless. I can remember no time that an American crowd has boo'd another nations anthem. Am I wrong?
I hope the Bruins beat the snot out of them (figuratively, of course.)

Dunno 'bout booing their anthem, but, during a baseball game between the Braves and Montreal, we accidentally put their flag upside down.
Still, rude.

Grow up froggies.I attended an Avalanche/Edmonton game in Denver 4 years ago, at which similar treatment was accorded the Canadian anthem. I stood and honored their flag, just as I expect them to honor ours. Truth is though, hockey fans are not known for manners.

Canadians up in Quebec are just PO'd that their Habs have sucked for so long and b/c they have little else goin' on up there with a three week long summer.
You'd be a little "testy" too! LOL
Or perhaps their marvelous "free for all" healthcare system with its waiting lines is finally grating on them.
Then again, maybe it's just b/c they are of French descent, eh! How would you feel if you woke up every day realizing that your descendents originally lived in France?! Eeek!

Yeah, that is still disrespectful. It was a silly mistake and seen here for what it was, during the World Seies between Atlanta and Toronto, I think the first one. What was really nice though was how the U.S. responded at the following game which was held in Toronto...I was there. The Canadian flag was brought out by a U.S. Marine Guard group (sorry if my terminology is wrong) while the Mounties brought out the Stars and Stripes. Absolutely the most enthusiastic singing of The Star Spangled Banner I've ever heard at a Blue Jays game.
As for Montreal fans, well...it is Quebec and it is the playoffs, but it's still infantile and rude especially when American troops are in harms way. Some Canucks are just smug navel gazing boneheads and will never change.

I went to a Habs game in Montreal earlier this year with some friends during a convention.
They were playing the Penguins and when the SSB began, we heard some loud "boos" from a section not too far away.
Now, we're all pretty large guys, a couple of us (not me) ex-military and all very "red, white and blue" and we were ready to go kick some serious canuck arse. Then something unusual happened...
"O Canada" began and these same bozos started booing their own national anthem! We decided that these idiots were just drunk and not really on any kind of anti-US rant so we blew it off.
On another note, the chick they have making announcements on the Jumbotron (in english and french) is some kind of hot!!!

Once again those classless French pains in the butt embarrass us. At least Ron Maclean and Kelly Hrudey admonished the Habs fans on national television. This is typically boorish, childish, French Canadian behaviour - they hate anything Anglo - the Canadian anthem they generally boo, and seeing as they're very afraid of American culture encroaching on there own, they have the same attitude now towards you as they do us in English Canada. Before, they generally liked you Americans, but knowing the French as I do, that was probably because of the strength of your dollar when you went holidaying in Quebec. Keep a look out for this lot to become even more of a pain in the butt for you guys. On behalf of Enlish Canada, I apologise to our American friend for these louts.

BTW, to understand the French mentality, just know that they don't consider themselves Canadian, they consider themselves nothing more than Quebecois. They hate the English. Most of all, they hate us in Upper Canada (Ontario/English). Maybe they're mad because we always refer to them as "Lower Canada".
To: SB00
Pretty damned rude, considering that the U.S. is underwriting their entire national existence.

The flag being upside down is explainable as a mistake.
Some Canucks are just smug navel gazing boneheads and will never change.
Yeah and in a crowd so large you are bound to get more then a few of them mixed in. I am sure there were a few people who were embarrassed by this incident. At least that's what I hope.
