[history]
There is scant comfort in the fact that Mexican forces won the 1836 battle of the Alamo: The movie closes with the Battle of San Jacinto one month later, which Mexico lost -- along with Texas. Within a dozen years, Mexico went on to lose most of what later became California, Colorado, New Mexico, Utah, Nevada and Arizona.

Within a dozen years, Mexico went on to lose most of what later became California, Colorado, New Mexico, Utah, Nevada and Arizona How can you lose what you never owned? The Pope "gave" the Spanish Crown all of North America in 1495. That's Mexico's "claim" to this area.
In 1846, Spaniards (lately Mexicans, due to a revolution about 20 years before), constituted less than 1% of the largely Indian populations of the aforementioned areas. In California, they were outnumbered by the Indians by some 350,000 to 7000. Yup, that's it folks. In 1846, there were all of 7000 men, women and children of Spanish descent in California. But....they 'owned it', 'cuz 300 years prior the Pope said so.
Right.
So much for the "We Wuz Robbed!" nonsense.
And as for Mr. Boucham, and his anti-American hatred, why doesn't he move to Mexico City? Clearly, that's where his loyalties lie.

"lets give their great, great, great, great, great, great grandchildren millions to make it better."
Think about it, that's exactly how much it's costing us for today's illegal aliens' health and welfare costs, and add a few more millions to that!

"Santa Ana was bangin' a whore at noon when Houston attacked. D'OH!
"The rest of his army was taking a siesta and had, stupidly, allowed themselves to get backed up against the San Jacinto River."
Carumba! The wiley gringos didn't know they are supposed to take a siesta!

"It was very much filmed from an American point of view. It didn't have very much good to say about the Mexican side," said Felix Boucham, 63, a Mexico City retiree and history buff. "I frankly expected the audience to boo some scenes." Well, Felix, let me take this opportunity to not care.

"Ahem...Hey Jose, it is an American-made movie."
John Wayne announced he was going to film his version of the Alamo (1960) in Mexico! (to save dinero)
But the Daughters of the Texas Revolution liked to had a cat!

"Carumba! The wiley gringos didn't know they are supposed to take a siesta!"
Radio jock Gordon Baxter (later "Flying Magazine" columnist) said one summer afternoon that if only the Mexicans had won at San Jacinto, we all would be taking a siesta about now!

>>"But if that was all he was, then how could he have been president of Mexico 11 times?" <<
Santa Ana was president of Mexico 11 times because he was a ruthless murderer! Hello!

The Mexicans should relax. They have practically taken back Texas, Arizona and California without firing a shot.

An audience at the Mexico City premiere Wednesday gasped at the final scenes of the Mexican army defeat at the hands of Texans -- "in 18 minutes," according to the film. Sounds about right. They caught them sleeping in, and captured Santa Ana, at which point his army fell apart. Mexico would have been better off if the Texans had killed the SOB. Instead they went soft and let him go, in exchange for their independence.

I am sure it has to do with the flourishing of Indian Gaming through-out California as well as other states. In fact California is now going to let them have additional Las Vegas style games. Many mexicans feel entiltled to some Indian freebies, and want land that they feel was stolen by the U.S, you hear that quite alot around these parts...

*****Little known historical fact: at the end of the Mexican War, the US paid Mexico $15 million for the "Mexican Cession", aka " most of what later became California, Colorado, New Mexico, Utah, Nevada and Arizona.". That's the same amount of money we paid the French for the Louisiana Purchase. Even so, many people felt we underpaid, and the Gadsden Purchase, of a much smaller area, was made for $10 million. ******
But remember, that was in GOLD, not worth less paper dollars.

Actually, I can't find fault with that. There were many many times when I was at school or work when a few minutes rest in the afternoon would have been a great relief to me.

Santa Ana was president of Mexico 11 times because he was a ruthless murderer! Hello! There have been many ruthless murderers in history. As far I know, none of the others ever wound up as the head of state of a major country 11 different times.
As the author says, he had some characteristics that made people follow him, even when he had repeatedly led them to disaster before.

All good points. Hell the Spainish/Mexicans never really controlled any of the lands they lost to the USA in the 1840's. In the 1820's Mexico invited Americans to settle in Texas to help establish control over the area from the hostile indians who were in the region and were attacking local settlements.

Well I hear your message loud and clear! But Arnold now has mandated Indians will pay state tax on there millions they make off gaming, so now it might not be so appealing to others, when the state wants there share...
