April 8, 2004 -- We salute the U.S. Marines killed and wounded in the latest upsurge in violence in Iraq, and their comrades-in-arms who are fighting to regain control of Fallujah from Sunni thugs. Their bravery and sacrifice are inspirational.

Sen. John Kerry, who so carelessly denigrated them as members of a "fraudulent coalition."

Kerry also dismisses them as " The Window Washer Nations."

Bet many of them have been in combat longer than he was in Vietnam.

And unlike Kerry, they continued resisting Soviet imperialism until it was impotent.

Over the past days, while U.S. Marines battled Sunni insurgents in Fallujah and Ramadi, and G.I.s fought Shiite militiamen in Baghdad's Sadr City:
* A Ukrainian soldier ... in the city of Kut ...* A Salvadoran soldier serving with the Spanish-led brigade in Najaf ... Italian troops in Nasiriyah ... In Karbala, Polish troops ... * British soldiers killed 15 al Sadr militiamen in a firefight in Amara. ...

Just saw an American troop on late night news with half his face shredded. His buddies were holding their position while he waited for help. In another battlefield interview, a Marine was saying the they always win. It's getting personal out there. Hey, I saw an M24 I think.

I hope while the world watches the network news telling everyone that the civillian casualties are our fault that they'll remember how many lives we risked every day to protect southern Iraq from Saddam's gas-nozzle fitted helicopters...

GRIEF-stricken US Marines huddle together in prayer over the body of a dead pal yesterday. For a few precious moments of mourning the tough troopers turned from the fury of battle at Fallujah to bid him farewell.

The Marines had fought hard to keep their buddy alive. They had bound his head wound after he was hit by shrapnel, then defied enemy fire to carry him to a first-aid post. But nothing could save him.

Mercy dash ... US soldier carried to safety

The casualty was among more than 40 Americans killed so far this week. At least 480 Iraqi rebels died in the same period.

The bodies of some Americans have yet to be recovered. An official said: “We dare not reach them because of the fighting.”

Thank you, Stultis.

The valor of Coalition troops underscores the fact that the conflict is a war against terror and for civilization.

Prayers for a Dead Buddy. Freepers respond to the powerful pictures, honor our fallen Marines.

The valor of Coalition troops

But this just can't be. All this time I thought we were in it alone, that there was no coalition, that it was all window dressing, a facade.

America, nobody loves you more than a Marine. You'd better keep his back if you want to last another 100 years in freedom. Note: he wants to win. Let him.

here is a place you can find all the embassy addresses, email, phone numbers. I suggest we all take the time to send a quick message so these people know we know what they are doing, and we appreciate the sacrifices they are making next to us. We're the stewards of our country. Let's act like it!

Of course. But also don't overlook the factthat some of these young Marines have trained for this moment for years, and now that they have the chance to show the world what UNITED STATES MARINE really means, they're loving their opportunity and literally having the time of their lives.

Some, most I expect, wouldn't want to be anywhere else in the world, and could be no more comfortable or self-assured with the company of any fighting men in the world other than or in addition to those with whom they're sharing this operation.

They're going to serve this country well, and do us proud. And those of us who've been in their boots will note the little details and a grin here and there on a Marine's face, and the quiet words of professional praise will make its way to them when the opportunity comes: Semper Fi, Marines

I couldn't have said it better. Some of them may be more practical than that -- I'm sure quite a few are scared. But that's good. It'll keep them sharp.

Archy.I have seen this expressed here many times.

I may write daily of my sorrow over the losses but I have great respect for their mission and am truly honored to be served by such men.
