Unfortunately, the excellent BRIT HUME has the same annoying habit - interrupting someone (usually during the panel) who is making a good point, just to clarify something that everyone understands anyway. It's no doubt something he learned at ABC and hasn't been able to kick the habit yet.

I think Brit only does it because sometimes Mort or Fred uses terminology that only political junkies would understand. Brit prompts them to elaborate for better clarity. He doesn't interject to shoehorn in his own viewpoint.
