How very liberal of you. I bet you supported Clinton dropping bombs on Serbia...Come on admit it.Actually, there were very few people on FR who supported the Kosovo campaign. That conflict had nothing to do with our national interest.
Iraq, however, being where it is, is very much in our national interest. Now I know some folks have a knee-jerk reaction to any overseas war, but they marginalize themselves in the process.

She is trying so hard to get through to this meathead. Surely she knows how Helen Keller's teacher felt.

Asking about Clarke, did he push Bush, is he trying to twist the facts in his book???
To: Darlin'
Question about if there was too much emphasis on Iraq right after 9/11. Intersting...Bush asked Blair on the phone if IRAN could have been responsible...because it was such a sophisticated operation. Rumsfeld and Wolfowitz brought up Iraq at Camp David. Consensus was not to go to Iraq, but Afghanistan.
Bush told her after the Camp David meeting to get contingency plans in case Iraq acted against our interests (while we went into Afghanistan) or if it was discovered later that Iraq was involved.
To: txradioguy
actually referring to Clarke's book, bringing fiction into this meeting is just stupid

9/11 made possible sweeping changes in the way we can defend our country. This is a good point.
Before 9/11 if we had tried to arrest the 19 Arabs from Saudi who were about to board the planes, and told the country it was because we thought they were going to fly planes into buildings, the left would have gone berserk.
You cannot speculate on actions taken before 9/ll because it is 9/11 that brought about changes that now make prevention of terror possible.

She doesn't remember Clarke talking to Bush. It's not surprising if Bush did ask about Iraq but he certainly wouldn't push anyone about Iraq.

That's how the media will portray her.
Sorry for the confusion.

Condi: THere was a concern that Iraq would take advantage of our preoccupation of Afghanistan war and the president wanted a contingency plan.
ME: I DO SO WISH SHE WOULD MENTION THAT THE SUMMER OF 2001, THE IRAQI STATE RUN NEWSPAPER SAID THAT AMERICA WOULD "HURT WHERE IT HURT BEFORE" (WTC) and NEVER SING "NEW YORK, NEW YORK" AGAIN WITHOUT TEARS.
AND, TWO WEEKS BEFORE 9/11, IRAQ WENT INTO ITS HIGHEST STATE OF ALERT.

I really admire her demeanor. Kean's questions are puff balls for her, giving her the chance to fully debunk the spinning attacks from Clarke and the left.
He has given her the chance to debunk the allegation that Bush was too quickly consumed with the desire to "get" Saddam. And she's doing it...in spades!
"The president wanted contingency plans for Iraq, in case they took advantage of us while we were going after Afghanistan, and in the event we found they were involved with 9=ll". Condi says, you can look at what we did to prove the point.
Condi doesn't remember the conversation Clarke recounted in his book about Bush, but she says "I'm quite certain the president never pushed anyone to go after Iraq.".
