Iran lost most of the gains it had made in Iraq.
It's their own fault for investing $49 million in a weak punk like Sadr.
This has been a very serious loss for Iran IMHO. But maybe they didn't expect much. Cause a little trouble and see if anything fell their way.

I've been sitting in this chair for the last year convinced that Iraq was nothing other than a cocked weapon at the head of the real enemy or enemies nearby, chiefly Iran.
If Bush did not mean to draw in Iran, then a serious strategic error has occured. If, as has always seemed likely, the WOT was to be conducted as promised - against all/any terrorist states - then we're in for a helluva show.

We need to take the gloves off -- there should be no sanctuary, including their religious shrines or otherwise, for anyone who declares war or avows to kill Americans.
It should be immediate, swift, and overwhelming. Give a few hours for anyone who doesn't want to be a part of it to surrender or vacate the area, and then completely destroy!
