One problem is that the US is looking at Iraq as a localized war. The fact is that it is a war taking up by the Arab and Islamic world. They are sending arms, people, and most importantly using their ideology and totalitarian states to brainwash people in their own countries against the war. The US needs to declare enemy also those terror regimes from the outside of Iraq who are flocking to Iraq to murder Americans and could care less about the former Baathist state.

Let's see if the other Shi'ite clerics will step up to condemn the violence and proclaim the coalition as being helpful to Iraq and the Iraqi people.

Don't count on it though.

I agree with your comments here. Further, I would hope that we or Iraqi nationals are securing their borders. Entry should be limited to commercial shipping only for the time being. Those who try to do end runs should be eliminated.

Why didn't the Islamic world look at Afghanistan as a war to take up on?

Too many weapons around Iraq left for the terrorists.

The coalition has destroyed about 180 million tons of munitions following the end of the war. 600-800 million tons are estimated to be in Iraq before the war started.
