How about the Jews? They migrated out of the middle east (eventually to Boca Raton), so I guess they aren't white...

Lots of spanish speaking people say that. I don't know what to make of it other than that classifying people is a crock and the government should stop confusing itself.

I used to be white before I got here. I was really shocked when a "Hispanic" lady, no accent so probably a Tejano rather than a Mexican, asked me if my wife was "white". She is, I guess, (German, Danish and Italian, et. al.) but the lady asking the question has nearly as pale skin as my blond wife, and actually lighter hair and skin than my wife's sister (The Italian genes I suppose). I knew she was "Hispanic" but I also thought she looked pretty "white" to me.
