yeah..they are alive but not what I'd call flourishing.

And what's your definition of fluourishing? A civilisation that learns and builds up on itself? Yup, both do that. Economics alone do not a civilisation make.

And even more so, it answers your question about civs that are older than Western European (note Greek ain't western European either) that are still around.

So, if there are Civs OLDER than Western Europeans civilisation then the Western Europeans couldn't have "civilised" them because these areas were civilised BEFORE Western Europe.
