This may piss off many freepers who live in LI, but I do believe that much of the mess can be solved if the schools were consolidated (provided the extraneous employees were downsized) and these little fiefdoms known as school districts abolished. They did this in Orange County, CA a few years ago and it has worked OK. More important is to get the Socialists OF BOTH PARTIES in Albany to stop requiring the county to cover Medicaid costs everytime some housewife gets a headache.
