We moved into this home in 1996, fixed it up, and its value has appreciated to a ridiculous amount since then. Prices are unbelievable. I know people who have moved to other states, and couldn't afford to move back to California because of the home and rent prices.
I do feel sorry for young couples who are trying to buy their first home here in southern Cal, and many of them can't, so they buy inland and have very long drives to their workplace on our crowded freeways. I'm glad I'm old.

Well, let's say you home is worth 1.3 million (I suspect that is a reasonable guess). What do you think you would pay in property taxes in Westchester County, New York for a home worth that much?

We moved into this home in 1996, fixed it up, and its value has appreciated to a ridiculous amount since then. Prices are unbelievable. We bought our house in 1985. And we too fixed it up. New roof, earthquake proofing, new patio and new kitchen. If sales prices of a couple of houses on my block are any indication. Our house has tripled in value. If you don't mind my asking, what multiple do you figure for yours?

My home county on Lawn Guyland (Nassau) makes Westchester look like an offshore tax haven. Thank the idiots who think that every little town deserves its own school district, police force, etc., and New York state laws mandating the most generous medicaid benefits in the nation.
