New Eagle Scout

Last night Daniel Fox passed his Eagle Board of Review. He joined our Troop straight out of Cub Scouts after having earned his Arrow of Light. During his career in the Troop he has been Patrol Leader, Senior Patrol Leader, and Junior Assistant Scoutmaster. He's been to summer camp 5 seasons, went to the last National Jamboree, and did a 10-day 95 mile high adventure trip out of Charles L. Sommers Canoe Base up into Quetico Provincial Park, earning the 50-Miler award and the Quetico Service award. He is an Ordeal member of the Order of the Arrow. He took a 10-hour training course in how to set up and run rock climbing programs, and attended the Council Junior Leader Training course. He has taken Den Chief Training and has the Den Chief Award. He's been on dozens of Troop campouts and activities.

His Eagle Project consisted of renovating our Church's (and sponsor's) kitchen. The walls and ceilings got two coats of paint. The commercial-style exhaust fan and rotor was replaced and the external shutter was repaired. The kitchen sink's countertop and faucet were removed and replaced. Wall cabinets were purchased, assembled, and installed on one wall that did not have them. The endcap on a base cabinet countertop was replaced. And all the paint spatters and spills from the last 3 paint jobs were all cleaned up.

He has been on his high school's soccer, lacrosse, and math teams each of the last 4 years. He has been on the honor roll almost every semester. He will be matriculating at the University of Illinois' College of Engineering this fall.

I have been proud to be his Scoutmaster.

I am even prouder to be his father.

Congratulations to Daniel and you.

Without fathers like you there would be no Boy Scouts.

My sons troop belongs to the Teddy Roosevelt council so we'll give you both a resounding "Bully!"

As well you should be. Excellent job! My 13-year-old homeschooled boy has just joined the Boy Scouts. I hope he excells at least half as much as your boy. My best to you and your son.

Congrats on your son receiving Scouting's highest award! I rec'd mine back in '86. Next to giving my life to Christ, I have to say this is still(being an Eagle) one of my biggest accomplishments in life. Tell him to continue to seek the Arrow in all he does life and remember well what humility is throughout life. God bless! Yours in WWW- Douglas McDuff(Allogogan Nehallatank)

One big congrats to both.

My oldest son had achieved his Eagle Scout last year, and his younger brother just finished his Eagle project last week.

They both started scouting as webelos.

If anyone is considering a donation to the United Way, send instead to your local Boy Scout chapter

Hey Ron, congrats.

Scouting was great for my sons and myself as well as you know from our exchanges over the years on Scouting threads.

I remember asking my neighbor/cubmaster what training or qualifications I had to have to be a Tiger Cub leader...he said, go up to Penneys tonight and buy a shirt and then I'll see you at my house Monday night with the boys...twenty years ago, LOL.

I hope my younger one profited by the experience. He is in Army Basic, starting week three right now.

...send instead to your local Boy Scout chapter.

Amen! It's the only organization I know of that has values and morals and has not sold them to the highest PC bidder. God Bless the Boy Scouts.

Our homeschool Cub Scout pack in Michigan just started a homeschool Boy Scout Troop a few weeks ago.

The more I get involved with Scouting, (Den Leader, Asst. Cubmaster) the more impressed I am with the entire organization. I know my boys are in good hands.

Congratulations to Daniel and Dad from a scoutmaster whose son just completed his last requirement for Eagle. Paperwork and Eagle Board of Review are only items remaining.
