Their drilling disturbs habitat for the critically endangered Western Pacific gray whale, of which there are only an estimated 100 remaining worldwide,
Historical note. The discovery of oil prevented the demise of whales who were being destroyed for whale oil.

Like other fossil fuels, when natural gas burns it emits greenhouse gases, which are changing the Earth's climate and in the process causing erratic weather
I guess I should be used to it, but its unbelievable how this hogwash is stated as fact.

Let's see no nukes, no coal burning, LNG is out, windmills chop up condors, solar farms spoil the view, high voltage electric power lines causes cancer, burning wood causes air pollution--I hope Californians like sitting in the dark and using treadmills to recharge their electric cars.

CA can turn out the lights and end all their energy misery.

I was looking something up in an engineering library a couple of years ago when a book on the shelf caught my eye. Entitled Frozen Fire, it discussed the potential safety hazards of liquified natural gas. It is quite understandable that in these days of terrorism, citizens would not want a LNG terminal in their neighborhood. LNG is often stored in huge spherical tanks. If a tank leaks, the LNG can spread across the ground very rapidly. If the leak is large and in an urban area, a single spark can then endanger the lives of thousands of people. In 1978 a truck carrying liquified gas crashed and began to leak near a campground in Spain. Camp stoves ignited the gas which had spread through the campground. 215 people were killed and many others severely burned. Evidently the industry has taken safety quite seriously since then but they have not had to reckon so much before now with people trying to cause a disaster.

We might as well go back to rubbing two sticks together to create fire for energy, and live in caves....sheesh.
