Likely Democratic presidential nominee John Kerry claimed Tuesday night that he's a big fan of rap and hip-hop music.
The straight-laced Beacon Hill blue-blood who married into the $700 million Heinz ketchup fortune told MTV, "I'm fascinated by rap and by hip-hop. I think that there's a lot of poetry in it. There's a lot of anger - a lot of social energy in it."
Kerry said America's leaders disregard rap music at their peril, telling MTV, "I think you better listen to it pretty carefully because it's important."
Asked about some of the more outrageous lyrics in today's rap songs, Kerry replied, "Do I think some lyrics in some songs have stepped over what I consider to be a reasonable line? Yeah, I do."
He then explained, "I think when you start, you know, talking about killing cops or something like that, it bothers me."
Still, Kerry defended the gangsta rap genre, telling MTV, "I'm still listening because I know that it's a reflection of the street and it's a reflection of life. And I understand all that."

"I'm fascinated by rap and by hip-hop. I think that there's a lot of poetry in it. There's a lot of anger - a lot of social energy in it." Lemme know when same sex marriage becomes a shout out in a rap/hip-hop top twenty listing, mmmkay John?
Shorty that!

"I watched the whole thing and heard the MTV reporter say so."
HAH! Proving yet again my contention that MTV is a lot less biased than the mainstream networks. Who could have listened to these claims and beleived a word of it, including "the" and "and". This Kerry is starting to make Al Gore look like the most honest pol. who ever lived.

I didn't say I would like to see it. But I WOULD like to see a substantial majority of the nation's voters laughing as they send this phoney back to the once-great state of Massachusetts in November. :O)

Dear John F'n Kerry,
Last week I tried to email the lyrics of a Ludacris song to some colleagues to raise awareness of the music our kids are growing up with. Several mail servers refused to deliver my message because of a long list of objectionable words. One colleague who did receive the message was offended by the contents. I can appreciate your need to be perceived as cool and all, but clearly you are clueless about the cultural abyss we parents are struggling against to raise decent kids these days.

Effin Kerry: "I'm even more hip than Clinton, you'll never hear me dissin' Sister Soulja. Yo, that is whack!"
To: ShandaLear
"I wonder of John and Teresa speak Ebonics at the dinner table."No. But they'll see to it your kids do via public education policy.

that is exactly what I was thinking.

There is nothing sadder than a 60 year old man extolling the virtues of rap. And a 60 year old rich white liberal guy, to boot. The funny thing is that he has absolutely no idea what a complete fool he made of himself tonight, and he'll never be convinced by any of his "peeps."
I thought Al Gore was the be-all and end-all of lying and pandering, and that Howard Dean was the foot-in-mouth disease king, but Kerry has both of them beat at their own game.

I don't think you like Kerry much. LOL I would love to see him listen to a rap song and then tell us what was said. He'll need another vacation to figure it out
