Having lost the primary in humiliation - his brother had been caught trying to wiretap an opponent's office -

Say WHAT???

I know! I hadn't heard about that either. This also presents some freeping opportunities. Maybe someone dressed up as a PLUMBER (or telephone repairman) with a "Cameron Kerry" nametag?

I've been pretty positive about November -- until today. It's beginning to look like the fix is in. If so, Bush is in deep trouble, and Rove, Rumsfeld, Cheney, Baker, et al, had better come up with a sharper game plan fast.

C-Span shows a 30-year-old tape of Dick Cavett and we're all excited. Meanwhile, every network on TV is blasting the Administration from all sides and very little rebuttal gets through.

If I see that tear-stained, lying, zombie weasel, Clarke one more time after his 14 appearances on TV today, I'll retch. He's wired, rehearsed, and even seems to know the question before it's asked. Spielberg couldn't have cast the part any better.

And all Rice gets on "60 Minutes" is a perfunctory blurb between commercials, half of which was taken up by more tape of Clarke!

When Clarke told Russert this morning he's a card-carrying Republican, BUT HE VOTED FOR GORE IN 2000, insult was added to injury. This guy has been a mole from day one.

It looks like the script is to get Bush to do all the dirty work to put American forces on the ground in the Middle East. Then dump him lest he gets carried away and actually believes there's a real chance for a conservative, Judeo-Christian government.

The U.S. has a Republican President, House, Senate, a majority on the Supreme Court, AND STILL BUSH IS TAKING ALL THIS HEAT! Why did a Republican Congress okay these hearings in the first place?

But the final blow was hearing the babbling newscasters insist gasoline prices will be $3/gallon this summer!

If that happens, we can kiss the White House goodbye. Gone are the promises of $1/gallon gas. Instead, Bush will be seen as a money-grubbing oilman, responsible for the country's financial mess, while some oil executive somewhere is ROTFLHAO.

The Republicans must go on the offensive ASAP. Or else President Bush is going to be the first U.S. Commander in Chief to have won TWO wars in as many years and still lost reelection!

Yep, O'Neil is a real hero. Stayed there for his whole tour. I'd still like to learn more about those purple hearts??? O'Neil won't let up on the fact that Calley (Oops Kerry) is doing this for the fact that he's running for congress in Taaaxechussets, even eluding that he may have been able to get out of the Navy early for that reason.

Re 101:

"But watching this, I can see plainly that for a generation of Americans, the left point of view was the only point of view fed to them. No wonder the old hippies are such dimwits, it is all they ever knew!"

This brings to mind that the same old hippies are teaching in the colleges and universities today. They stress critical thinking, but only if its critical of the other side.

They call Bush the oil man but it was Clinton's gal, hazel o'Leary, that travelled to Pakistan with Enron's CEO in tow- right before the Pakistanis made it obvious they had the bomb.

Just when you think you know who's behind the curtain, the lights go out. When they're switched back on, all the actors have changed.

But the play remains the same.

And more often than not, God-fearing, hardworking middle Americans are left standing in line, holding a ticket for a matinee that's been canceled.

He would occasionally look at Cavett, an obvious partisan, but never at O'Neill and never at the camera.

While I was watching the 9:30 replay my tired old mind kept prodding me. One reason for Cavett's favoritism might be that he's a Yalie too.

The son of Nebraska schoolteachers, Dick Cavett excelled athletically and scholastically in high school, receiving a scholarship to Yale.

I watched the rerun of the debate and before the debate C=span had a little interview with John O'Neil. He is a lawyer, living in Houston. He just donated a kidney to his wife and is recovering. He said that he appeared with Kerry to refute his accusations about war crimes, not debate the justification of the Vietnam War, a fact that Kerry had trouble admitting in the debate.

I'm pretty sure the people of South Vietnam are mostly free of day to day communist indoctrination.

They are, but it took an awful long time to get there. And in fact Hanoi finally recognized the end of the "American War" by allowing the USS Vandegrift to dock in the Port Of Saigon last November, and US Navy sailors were even given shore leave in Saigon (what a sight!).

But let's not forget what it took to get there: a decade of land seizures and reeducation camps (in which many died or were permanently crippled), and the subsequent fall of Cambodia, which is where the real bloodbath occurred (2 milllion dead).

I found it remarkable that during the Cavett debate, Kerry was very much aware of those potential consequences, and calmly accepted not only that "we can't win in Southeast Asia", but that the outcome of our withdrawl probably would be the fall of the entire region to Communism. He actually said that, as if it were just inevitable.

When I was growing up in the 70's, I use to listen to the radio all the time - mostly for the music but I got most of my news info from there. I remember one station's motto or chant - the news: hear it today, see it tonight, read it tomorrow. Back then I thought it was a cool slogan. Looking at it now, I can see where the brainwashing started with the same bias day in-day out. One main thing I remember when listening to the national news and that is they would finish up a broadcast by reporting what Prava reported concerning a certain topic. I thought back then, why do we care what the Soviets are putting out? Now I know why.

I do not know about O'Neil, this debate with Kerry, how O'Neil has lived since then, etc. But I do know this. These bastards - guys like Kerry, Kennedys, Alger Hiss - that sort of crowd - have long, long memories. Even to this day, with Dick Nixon dead, they go out of their way to drag his name in the mud. I would not be surprised that these people did something to O'Neil's life or career.

all this is bringing back so much old pain but I watched it with tears in my eyes. To think that a man like John F Kerry might make it to the Presidency makes me absolutely sick.

The most sickening part is the way that Kerry defines all soldiers as being like himself. Because he has no honor, then no one else has honor, because he participated in "war crimes" others did--and that made it okay.

My dad served in Korea and was serving as an attache to the Taiwanese Air Force in the late 60's. We had a bomb shelter in our back yard,in addition to enduring exposure to the illneses that accompany grinding poverty.

Many families made many sacrifices because the cause was just. Your family made the ultimate sacrifice. John Kerry is unfit to serve and unfit to lead, he is unfit to lick dog doody off the sole of your shoe.

A bit of info I found on Wolinsky:

April 28, 199 Press Briefing by Mike McCurry

The President also talked about an expansion of the police corps. Today we're awarding police corps grants to 17 states. The police corps was another campaign pledge from 1992. It passed as part of the 1994 crime bill. The first police corps grants went out last year. We're now going to be in 17 states, and this will triple the number of police corps recruits.

The police corps is an ROTC style program. Young people who agree to become police officers get four years college scholarship in return for four years of service as a police officer, and the police department that hires and trains them also gets some money to offset the hiring expense. This is an idea that was pioneered by Adam Wolinsky, a former aide to Senator Robert Kennedy, and the idea behind it is that not only does it promote service and give more people the chance to go to college, but it can help to transform policing and promote community policing in the country.

I met a young S. Vietnamese a number of years ago on a plane. He asked if I had been in SE during the war and I repled affirmatively and asked how the situation was now. They are probably more capitalistic than we could have dreamed they'd be, according to him. He said they'd start a war tomorrow and surrender if it'd bring more trade with us.

They should have thought of that thirty years ago. They'd all be rich.
