He sounds so damned condescending in his flat nasal, monotone!

That's why he's the Frenchman's choice!

Kerry though he was getting the last word in, but he didn't. Ha! O'Neil challenged him AGAIN to debate him on other shows. Evidentally, Kerry wasn't up for any other debates against O'Neil unless he could hide behind Cavett's liberal forum.

FYI, think they just said this will be replayed at 9:30 est for those who missed it or tuned in late.

Whining at the end that "I wish we could have debated the issues".

In other words, "I wish everyone would just take what I say at face value, and then we can discuss how wrong America is and why the communists are so great."

It was ok for the communists to kill the So. Vietnamese. He wasn't so sure about the political assassinations that his fellow VVAW wanted to commit, though.

I thought O'Neill held his own very well.

I'd forgotten how smugly obnoxious Cavett was.

"in 25 years we'll look back on a Viet Nam free of communism."

He's off by some years, but not entirely. My daughter visited Vietnam a few weeks ago. The South has thrown off most of the shackles of Stalinism and has become a favorite tourist destination for Europeans. Kind of a pre-Castro Cuba in Southeast Asia.

The North has gotten pretty much what it deserves. The worst of capitalist sweatshops (ala China) plus the worst of Communist repression.

THey talked about the transcript of Kerry testifying in the Senate. That's a good one to read too. But there are some good quotes in this one, that columnists should use to make sure the American people get an idea about the real Kerry.

"The debate is 2 against 1

Shucks, that's better than the 3 or 4 to 1 that Bob Novak ususally faces.

Has anyone commented on this?

The blurb running when Kerry is on screen states: "Served in Vietnam 1968 to 1969", which makes it seem like 2 years.

We now know he was there for only 4 months.

Guess Cavett took JFKerry at his word about that. We know better today...

Yes, the transcript will be on C-Span, but the show will be repeated at 9:30PST. Some of the lines from this show would make great material for Bush campaign ads.

He still does that today. The only difference with him then and now, is now he has hundreds of millions of dollars that he married for, from someone who got it the same way.
