Arab men with weapons, maps, Mexican driver's licenses, apprehended attempting to enter U.S.

| Rick Roberts Show caller
Posted on 03/28/2004 10:55:28 AM PST by John Jorsett
I heard this on Friday and have been waiting to see if it got picked up anywhere. So far, total silence in the news media. A caller to the Rick Roberts show by the name of Sean claimed to be a firefighter in San Diego County. He said he gets email alerts directed to emergency service and law enforcement personnel (he wouldn't say who sends them, but the Department of Homeland Security would seem to be a logical source), and that he had just received one that three men of Arab descent had been apprehended at the San Ysidro (a town immediately South of San Diego) border crossing. The men had Mexican driver's licenses, had weapons secreted in the side panels of their car(s) (I couldn't quite tell if he used the plural or not), and had detailed maps of Camp Pendleton Marine Base, Sea World, San Onofre nuclear power plant, and Lindberg Field (San Diego's airport), with "obvious marks on the map where explosives could be placed." The men were crossing at the border checkpoint as though they were visitors. Sean said he had received the email alert a couple of days before calling.
This was just some person calling in to a radio show, and so it could be a hoax or false alarm. I don't see why the media would suppress it (and they must have sources who'd forward them alerts like this), so I'm not sure what to make of this. Thought I'd get it out there, though, just in case anyone is interested.

They were probably getting in ahead of the crowd for amnesty or a green card. You can tell they were honest illegals when they decided to come in at ports of entry.

I can't believe your insensitivity and cultiral bias. First give them a fair trial and THEN shoot them.

All this talk about airport security and infiltrating terrorists, and no-one seems to be able to add 2+2 and figure out any half wit with money can sneak in here from Mexico, no problemo.
If they can come in here with virtual impunity across the Rio Grande, why are we not putting up barriers with spotlights and manned machine gun towers (and orders for border patrol personnel to shoot to kill fleeing invaders?
To: John Jorsett
Clearly, these Muslim wetbacks had refused to pay El Presidente Fox his fee to get them safely across the border. In fact, Fox may actually have blown the whistle on them as a warning to others trying to avoid his fee.
Fox has a very profitable deal with the Saudis and Castro. The Saudis pay Castro to train terrorists/kerroists and then transport them to Mexico where Fox harbors them and moves them to the US border.
The terrorists/kerrorists are taught some Spanish in Cuba so when the cross the border, they look and sound like a half million others who have crossed that month. Fox, for his fee, promises to get them across with their weapons and kerrorist materials. Often, they will also carry some of Fox's dope to fund other activities in the US.
It is another of Bush's failures that he has not stomped on Fox to prevent future kerrorists, dope and Mexican illegals from coming north.

For every one Arab-Muslim we catch at the Mexican border, 15 to 20 get through (according to Linda Vesters' investigative report last month). This doesn't square with the professional estimation of aprehension rates (10% to 20%) you offered two days ago and which are widely accepted.
Are you familiar with Vester's report?
Is this depressed apprehension rate (5% to 7%) because the investigation was about Muslims only or more obviously because Vester had an agenda?
Any thoughts?

If they can come in here with virtual impunity across the Rio Grande, why are we not putting up barriers with spotlights and manned machine gun towers (and orders for border patrol personnel to shoot to kill fleeing invaders? Oh that's such an easy one.
The Left HOWLS that we're "MILITARIZING THE BORDER" even when we add BP Agents or put in highway checkpoints.
Same story when we try to put up a PSP wall anywhere along the border.
Same story if we patrol it intensively and DON'T help the poor souls just looking for work.
Same story if we DON'T put out water for them so that the don't die in the deserts in the summer.
Groups like the American Border Patrol that flies home built UAV with miniature camera and transmitters that only tells the BP where the illegals are, are called a vigilante hate group.
A Rancher in Douglas was sprayed with AK-47 fire and his Trailer home set alight and he's being called a hate monger and screeches from the left howling for his arrest and conviction.
Do anything but bend over and kiss their posterior and we are called a bunch of xenophobic, racist bigots, no better than the KKK or the Neo-NAZI skinheads.
The left is all knowing and enlightened. Didn't you know that?</sarcasm

It is another of Bush's failures Why should he worry when he's busy raising funds for re-election at those $1,000 a plate dinners?

The fact that they were apprehended indicates that our borders are sufficiently secure. No need to worry while the Republicans are in charge.

From the report I posted above (in post #24):
but in 2002, about 8,000 of the illegals arrested were special interest aliens. What's that term mean? It means that they were from countries with known ties to terror, people from countries like: Libya, Pakistan, and Iran.
Whether the apphrehension rate is 5% or 20%, that's alot of Muslims illegally crossing the border in one year (2002) alone (between 40,000 and 160,000). So it appears the figure I posted above stating that around 15,000 Muslims have illegally crossed since 9/11 was a mistaken one ......it's significantly more than that.

Your whole focus on this borders thingy is making you appear a one issue voter!
Why is national security so important any way?

I saw Linda Vester's show. I even recorded it.
I don't know where she got her info, but IMO, she's way off.
There is absolutely no way to know the nationality of those that got through.
Since 96% of the apprehensions are Mexican, and 3% of the remaining 4% are from South America, its very doubtful that 15 to 20 Middle Easterners get through for everyone caught.

Thanks. Something wasn't ringing true based on the information that you and others in the profession have been offering.
I can appreciate that the more sophisticated trespasser has a lower chance of being apprehended but the number that Vester presented appears off by several orders of magnitude.
To: John Jorsett
There are many reasons to not give this information out, just as there are reasons to let it out, as well as different ways to letting it out.
Grain of Salt to be used in any amount here.
Of course, crossing an unguarded border wouldn't be too much of a jump of fantasy now would it?
To: John Jorsett
This was just some person calling in to a radio show, and so it could be a hoax or false alarm. Hundreds of thousands are entering from the south every couple months.
Osama Bin Laden could put on a NY Yankees cap, and walk right in with the rest of the hords.
It's a cakewalk for anyone with bad intentions, or agendas of death.
