What's your favorite flag of the world? Least favorite?

Some time ago, browsing through my friend's atlas, I realised that there are significant differences in quality between the flags of different countries. Some are good, some are bad. Some countries have clearly taken care in the choice of colours, layout, and design. Others have been lazy, stolen the flags of their neighbours, or just designed flags that are clearly supposed to cause pain to those who look at them.
To my surprise, there is no international body responsible for upholding simple standards of vexillilic aesthetics. Nor do the UN or Interpol have the power to call in and punish those responsible for such atrocities as the Brazilian or Cypriot flags. I suppose there is probably a conspiracy of rich western nations (those with permanent seats on the UN security council, no doubt) to prevent such crimes from being brought to justice; however, in the meantime I am giving letter grades to the existing flags of the world.

Aside from our flag which does have a great design, I have always liked the Union Jack and the flag of Jamaica which both incorporate St Andrews and in my view give off decidedly martial overtones. (which in JA's case is fantasy I know). I like the contrast of the Green, Black and Gold too.
Norway, Iceland, Denmark, Faroes, Sweden and Schweiz too.....simplicity and stand out. Japan has this too.
And sadly, France has a great tri-color and has always deserved the nation Charlemagne would have been proud of....but alas it ain't happening.
Israel.....if for the exculsivity if nothing else....
Is this writer from Queer Eye or a design school grad or both?

My least favorite ball point pen is Bic. My favorite ice cream is Moose Tracks. I don't really have a favorite color although I don't really like Taupe.
When I was younger I didn't have a favorite hocky team and alas, still don't. I like the smell of curing concrete although it may not actually be my favorite.

Maybe the Maryland flag is hypnotic to stun you while they tax everything, give the state away to illegals and promote socialism.

The best national flags: Greece, Israel, Great Britain. The best U.S. state flag: South Carolina; the worst (it's hard to say, there are so many to choose from): Georgia and California; it's a tie.
A great flag is an effective, easily recognizable symbol, often, though not necessarily, of simple design. I hate the ones that are junked up. For some reason, many people feel compelled to junk up a state flag with the state seal or something equally junky.

The French flag is the most utilitarian design. I think it is particularly ingenious how they incorporated the removable blue and red stripes. I wonder how they attached them before the invention of velcro?

Here are my favorites:
George Washington's Flag Commander-In-Chief Flag
Sons of Liberty
During the Texas war for independence from Mexico, an army of Texans took the town of Gonzales from a Mexican army (without much effort). Apparently, part of what the Mexicans left when they fled was a cannon. (Some folks say this cannon was the personal property of the Mexican general - an aristocrat). At any rate, the Mexican's sent a message to the Texans requesting the return of their cannon. The Texans responded by raising the banner! A star over a cannon over the words "Come and take it".
