I am so sorry to hear of your fathers death.
I knew your father from FR, and corresponded with him during my service both in the US and the UK.
I am a British soldier and first started talking with Jack during my service as a liaison in the US. I commented on how I found it disconcerting that so many Americans claim military service without ever going to a military careers office. He told me that it was one of his personal hates and that some old vets had taken up as their life works to expose these people, and sent me one of his copies of B.G. Burketts book ‘STOLEN VALOR’ (which I now have in front of me).
Although the last time I corresponded with Jack was in 2002, I since often thought about him whilst on active service.
He was a good man and heaven is a better place for having him there.
My regards to his family.
