While everyone has their attention focused on terrorism and theorize how it may affect elections, there is another issue that will affect our upcoming elections for president and Congress.
Our nation is a consumer nation. Ahead of principals and social issues, most of the electorate will vote on personal economic issues.
Why is no one talking about the reduction in oil production by OPEC nations and how this may affect the outcome of our elections? It is only a matter of time until the double digit increases in fuel prices this year will be passed onto consumers. When this occurs, economic hell follows.
Admittedly, it is not physically threatening like acts of terrorism. Still, it does represent how foreign interests will try to sway the perceptions of the electorate.

A recent example is the Clinton impeachment. The reason Clinton survived was because peoples 401s were soaring, and the public didn't want To take a chance on throwing him out because that might cause the market to nosedive.
Had we been in a deep recession Clinton would have gotten the boot. - Tom
