Now that we have the Internet, I am all the more shocked by how tasteless, mean and cruel these "loving, caring" liberals are. Forget the group; look at individuals who make it up.
In the time I've been on the Internet, I've been on many discussion forums (all types, special interest as well as general chat more like this). What do I find?
Spontaneous, unprovoked statements/threads started by some liberal who can't contain their glee over some1's misfortune.
On a history thread, some1 on the current events end or whatever had to start a thread: "maybe this sounds bad, but I can't help but be gleeful hearing about Rush's hearing problem!"
And on a nostalgia site, some1 quips not about feeling bad for Charlton Heston (as any1) having Alzheimer's start, but worrying merely "oh great, a dude w/Alzheimer's is running a gun-nut club". Similar things we know have popped up about Reagan, of course.
Again on the nostalgia site (and this very recent), a spontaneous thread about what an ugly, transvestite-like BITCH Margaret Thatcher was. Nope, not even any commentary about her policies, just personal invective - and tons of others joining in! It took a few posts before some1 mentioned how they hated her policies. (I wrote what I thought of those sots and their pathetic nasty-mean posts [esp. the irony coming from these caring, feel-good softies] - that pretty much killed it!)

Speaking of the interenet, perhaps that's the reason why things have escalated so far. You know how it goes in an argument; you say x, they say y. You YELL x, they YELL y. soon you are arguing about the other letters in the alphabet, someone pulls a gun and the rest gets lampooned on Leno.
