Michey Kaus covered this earlier than Drudge. He quotes the ABC source on the "son of a bitch" comment. The NYTimes article only mentioned an "expletive", to which Kaus suggested that the average reader would have thought Kerry said something worse than "son of a bitch" - I thought the same.

IMO the "I don't fall down" comment is worse than the expletive - vain and arrogant. Everybody falls down.

I beg to differ. Clymers don't fall down -- they get beaten down by Freepers.

TV delay may cause permanent déjà vu..."Or, if John Kerry’s open microphone the other day had been connected to a seven-second editor, Kerry might not have had to spend the week explaining why he whispered to supporters about how his Republican opponents are a pack of crooked liars."...

PORTLAND TRIBUNE

..."As a result, he says, we're losing the art of rich, sharp description. He uses Sen. John Kerry's "f-bomb" in a Rolling Stone interview as an example of a lost opportunity to raid a storehouse of strong verbs..." TV delay may cause permanent déjà vu
