Troop Prayer Thread 10 - A Year of VICTORY!

Posted on 03/19/2004 12:51:59 PM PST by TEXOKIE

THREE CHEERS FOR OUR WONDERFUL TROOPS, THEIR ALLIES, AND ALL WHO ARE SERVING IN SUPPORT CAPACITIES IN THE WAR ON TERROR! YOU HAVE GIVEN THIS NATION A YEAR OF VICTORY IN THAT WAR! The honor is yours, but know that we bask in your accomplishments and love you for your steadfast service on this day!

Welcome, everyone to the 10th Troop Prayer Thread! Today is the anniversary of the resumption of hostilities with Iraq, wherein our troops have made military history that shall ring down the centuries.

The troop prayer threads are dedicated to giving our troops, allies, and all who are serving the Holy Cause of Freedom, including (but not limited to) the families and loved ones waiting at home and those who are not in uniform but who are serving in dangerous situations supporting our troops and gathering intelligence spiritual support. We seek together to offer prayer, scriptures, encouraging messages, and other devotions dedicated to this purpose.

We have over the past year gathered together a prayer list of these servants of freedom. You will find it posted below. FReeper amom has been serving as our List Keeper this past year and I wish to thank and commend her for doing such a meticulous job of keeping it updated. She has also been keeping our ping list up to date. If you wish to submit a name for the prayer list or to add or take off a name from the ping list, please let either or both of us know.

For those of us who have somewhat limited computer capacity, or still have phone modems, we request that graphics be limited to pictures of loved ones for whom we are offering prayers, special visuals that seem particularly appropriate, and as much as possible, non-moving graphics. Thank you.

Thank you so much for spiritually supporting our troops, allies, support civilians, and their families.

We are grateful to God that for those who have been injured or taken back Home, He has dispatched angels to their care.

Dear Lord,
Lest I continue
My complacent way
Help me remember
Somewhere out there
A man died for me today
--As long as there be war
I then must
Ask and answer
Am I worth dying for?"

Taken from the book, "A Man Called Intrepid" by William Stevenson about William Stephenson, the head of British intelligence services prior to and during WWII. He wrote this at the very beginnings of the Battle of Britain and shared it with Eleanor Roosevelt.

STAR SPANGELED BANNER

Oh, say, can you see, by the dawn's early light,
What so proudly we hail'd at the twilight's last gleaming?
Whose broad stripes and bright stars, thro' the perilous fight,
O'er the ramparts we watch'd, were so gallantly streaming?

And the rockets' red glare, the bombs bursting in air,
Gave proof thro' the night that our flag was still there.
O say, does that star-spangled banner yet wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave?

On the shore dimly seen thro' the mists of the deep,
Where the foe's haughty host in dread silence reposes,
What is that which the breeze, o'er the towering steep,
As it fitfully blows, half conceals, half discloses?

Now it catches the gleam of the morning's first beam,
In full glory reflected, now shines on the stream:
'T is the star-spangled banner: O, long may it wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!

And where is that band who so vauntingly swore
That the havoc of war and the battle's confusion
A home and a country should leave us no more?
Their blood has wash'd out their foul footsteps' pollution.

No refuge could save the hireling and slave
From the terror of flight or the gloom of the grave:
And the star-spangled banner in triumph doth wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave.

O, thus be it ever when freemen shall stand,
Between their lov'd homes and the war's desolation;
Blest with vict'ry and peace, may the heav'n-rescued land
Praise the Pow'r that hath made and preserv'd us as a nation!

Then conquer we must, when our cause is just,
And this be our motto: "In God is our trust"
And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!

Hanoi john's latest......

He WAS in Cambodia, (which was seared - seared in his memory), then he WASN'T there, then it wasn't on Christmas but New Year's Eve more like, and now, he WAS (back) in Cambodia on a "secret" CIA mission, which he cannot talk about. Why can't he take a stand on any issue and must heap lie after lie to cover up the previous lies? I never thought I could say this, but this one, Hanoi john, is worse than clinton.

God help us if we elect this thing who has NO principles in this critical time.

Prayers for President Bush and this country.

Isnt that something about Hanoi John's being in Cambodia before he wasnt??? It would be laughable if it werent so frightening.

Thank you for your prayers for our President and for God to overshadow this election and place in office HIS choice candidates at all levels.

To: fatima; All

:-) Hi gorgeous! Doing fine!

I apologize for being less active lately. It has been a busy summer. Thank you so much for your kind words. I take them as strong encouragement to get back to the plowin'!

Thank you (and all thread participants) for all your prayers for our troops and our nation. Each and every sincere prayer is so important. As we saw in 2000, it is my belief that God's intercession because His children are begging him to intercede will be the only thing keeping this nation from disaster in this election cycle.

But I have great hope. We cant take the victory for granted, but we most certainly can increase our faith by taking action in our prayer closets and by doing those tasks which the Lord prompts us to perform. We can volunteer to stuff envelopes. We can do 'get out the vote' activities. We can put out yard signs and distribute bumper stickers. There are myriads of small but significant tasks which taken all together can make the difference and lead to Victory, by His Grace. There are so many of us out there in this country who love God. We are fighting for the heart and soul of the direction this nation will take. It is as important a time as what we faced on the day of Pearl Harbor. The outcome was not certain, but faith in our Lord did allow us to win the day, imho. It cannot fail to do so today.

CALL TO PRAYER!!

I have been informed that our Cheney Chick was requesting prayers for some heavy fighting conditions a few days ago.

CC, please accept this belated alert for the prayer warriors to come into action. God bless you and all our precious young people fighting the good fight on foreign soil.

Blessed Father in Heaven,

One of our own, Cheney Chick, has requested prayers for the units in her immediate vicinity. We understand that they have been in the thick of things in the past few days. Father, we call forth your angels and our Lord to overshadow them and each of our young people in harm's way. Take our prayers today and the prayers we have been offering over the past year and multiply them somehow to create a living net of light over these problem areas of the world.

We plea for the safety and victory of our troops. Let each one who is wearing the uniform or supporting the uniform be granted extraordinary armor of light and protection. We ask that you will overshadow and protect our allies standing by them.

Father, place your All Seeing Eye upon the wrong-doers. Expose and bind spiritually according to your Will Osama Bin Laden, Al Sadr, and each and every person who aspires to be a leader of those who stand against freedom. If it is your Will, let them be held accountable for the actions they have taken which are not in accordance with your divine Will. If it is according to your plan, expose them and let our troops find them and deal with them so as to render them unable to perpetrate any more darkness in the earth. Let this all be done only by thy hand and Will and timing.

We ask that you will overshadow the election preparations taking place in Afghanistan. We invoke your intercession for a mighty victory of freedom to take place there.

Overshadow the new Iraqi leadership. Help them to overcome the challenges to freedom facing them. We affirm with our President that freedom is your own precious gift to all of mankind. We affirm that free nations are less likely to make war on each other. Father, we invoke your Presence in the earth. Bring to us the day when all may sit under their own vine and fig tree. Let that day come when they may commune with you and taste the fruit of that communion.

We are grateful, Father that you hear us even before we call out to you. We are grateful that you heard the cry of the heart of our Cheney Chick and immediately answered her petition.

Father, we claim and gratefully accept our place as your beloved children. Help us to grow in grace and stature to become fit vessels for your divine Will and Plan.

Amen
