Thank God for all of our heroes and their loved ones!

Beloved Heavenly Father,

Memorial Day this year has brought us to a significant place in our nation's history. We have gradually awakened, even despite the attack against this nation on 9/11/2001, that a large group of people have declared war on us and we have finally engaged them. You have overshadowed our efforts thus far, and we have seen our Coalition forces gain some incredible victories on the battlefield. We have seen the joy of liberation in the eyes of people who have all but given up hope.

We have lost civilians and some in our armed services during the years of a one-sided war leading up to and including the 9/11 attacks. Despite our recent battlefield victories, we have now suffered the loss of some of our finest young men and women through battle waged in Afghanistan and Iraq. We honor all the ones lost to us in this war on this very special Memorial Day.

Father, we ask that all families who have lost their young hero under arms, or those whose loved ones were taken by the Enemy will be comforted; that they know that your universe is Just. Grant them peace and joy despite their grief, and allow them to have abundant mercy and faith so that their connection to you remains intact when they are finally able to finish their grieving.

Father, we ask that our gratitude to the ones who have taken up arms when called upon to preserve our freedom in every generation be conveyed directly to them, wherever they are in your vast cosmos. Help us to take up the torch which they have passed to us, to be vigilant in the cause of Freedom.

We ask to be shown how to live our lives so that we honor those who made our lives possible. Instruct each of us individually this Memorial Day weekend what you would require of us in that service to Freedom. For those of us who are on the homefront, help us know exactly what little or even large thing you want us to do to make a difference. Do you want us to write that extra letter or email to a lonely young trooper over in Iraq or Afghanistan or elsewhere? Do you want us to put together that CARE package we have been thinking about? Do you want us to write that letter to the editor? Do you want us to work on a political campaign for someone we believe will serve our nation well? Are you asking us to spend 5 more minutes or so with you in prayer? Father, please let us know, for we are asking and listening. We know that there are vast numbers of jobs which need doing here on the homefront to support and strengthen our nation at this time of war.

We beseech you Father, this hour, to guide our President, his cabinet, and all our elected and appointed leaders. Intercede into the minds and hearts of all who have any input capability at all for the course of action our nation may take, whether it is coming from those aforesaid leaders, or faceless bureaucrats, or those who man the typewriters and cameras of our entertainment and new media.

We have concern, Father, that all too often, the messages we see reported in the news are taking on the pattern of that which we saw during our dark days of Viet Nam, when it literally was the news media losing the war for us by not reporting the truth about our magnificent troops who were in fact winning the war during the Tet Offensive, as was confirmed years later by the enemy. Father, enter now into those organs of public discourse and shake them up! SHATTER and EXPOSE any of the muttering and peeping voices which are not centered in the Truth! Let that which needs to be conveyed, good or bad, be released to us, the American public! Let difficult stories be given perspective by placing them in their just context as guided by you!

Father, we ask that you will take command in these matters! We are concerned, for we suspect that many of our compatriots are yet asleep and are not getting the information they need in order to make proper decisions and judgements about the course our nation, indeed our civilization is going! Father, all things are indeed possible with you, so in great loving faith and expectancy, we call forth a miracle of Awakening! Let each soul here in America with a tie to you have an epiphany this Memorial Day! Let it sink in to hearts ready to receive it, that our way of life and the freedoms we cherish are bought with a price. Let each and every soul in this nation be brought to a place where they are able to understand and feel the intense debt of gratitude we all owe to those who have taken up arms today and throughout our history to make sure that the Tyrant will not gain purchase here on this holy soil of our homeland, and in the process have indeed purchased liberty for the residents of other lands who have fallen under the Tyrant's heel.

We are grateful, our Father for the heroes who sacrificed their lives. We are grateful Father, for the heroes who wear the Coalition uniforms and those who work side by side with our troops to bring a representative form of government to a people hungry for self expression. We rejoice at the fact that there are now * PROTESTS!! * in the streets of Iraq! Guide the people of Iraq in these immediate days ahead! Help them to choose wisely in the many decisions before them as they begin to exercise the opportunities brought to them by their liberators, the same heroes we share in the US and Coalition armed forces.

We pray, Father, that you will overshadow our people in the coming days, for it has been reported to us that the Enemy continues to desire to attack us again. We ask that you will send teams of angels to encircle and bind and confute any and all who have plans and means to carry forth an attack, large or small, against this nation, her people, and her allies. Grant that someone be in a situation where you can whisper to them enough information so that an attack can be forestalled. Guide and direct all our homeland heroes in the law enforcement and public service/safety sectors. We are grateful for the many prayers in this regard which we suspect you have already answered. Please, let your Will, Mercy, and Omniscient gaze be upon our nation and our true allies.

If it should come to pass that we or our allies are attacked, please, Father, minimize and mitigate the loss of life and destruction of property. If it must come to pass, let it be the means to galvanize our people into unity, and not be allowed to be used as a tool of the sinister force to divide us. We invoke in any case, legions of Unity angels for our nation and those who love Freedom. Let them move across this nation along with the winds of the Holy Spirit in a renewal of the original fervor of our Founding Fathers. Let the devotion of the true patriots somehow be enough to hold the balance until some of our sleepy brothers and sisters can awaken and join our ranks.

Father, we are so very grateful that you have sent to us, at the times of greatest need, the magnificent heroes who have and do step up to the hard tasks with such humility before God. Surround each of these, past and present with heavenly laurels. Surround each of these who have and do serve, with special blessings, guidance, mercy, and faith.

"Pray for us. We lost one of our "kids" this weekend. He was just 21, newly married and found out he had a baby on the way just after we arrived here in Afghanistan. Pray for his young wife, that she may be comforted. We had a service for him this morning and it made Memorial Day all too real -it will never be the same. He always had a permanent smile on his face. Everyone here is devastated by the loss."

MERCIFUL FATHER IN HEAVEN,

Wrap Cheney Chick's unit serving in Afghanistan with your comforting embrace. They have lost a precious friend and comrade. Father, take this young man into your arms and hold him and take him to a very special place in your heaven. Tell him how grateful his countrymen are for his service and sacrifice. Instruct each of us remaining behind how we may live so that that sacrifice was worth it. Help us to be honorable and mindful of our obligations to take up the torch of defending freedom from those who have fallen in the effort.

We understand that CC's young comrade had a wife and a young baby on the way. We ask for extraordinary intercession in the lives of this young family. Surround them and all his loved ones with special teams of angels so that they may fulfill their period of grief and find themselves able to take up their lives strengthened and blessed with their faith in you intact. Clear the way before the child entering on the earth's stage without its father. If it is according to thy Will, allow this young father the opportunity to be able to communicate with the heart and soul of his child. Grant the young wife assurance that all will be well. We call forth miracles of healing and faith and mercy in her life and all who this young man touched.

We are asking for a special blessing of healing and mercy for Cheney Chick's unit and all who served with this young man. We are informed and can well understand how devastating the loss of this fine young man would be. Father, help them to heal in their hearts and souls. Strip them of all inordinate fear, doubt, self doubt, distraction, depression, anger, and any other emotion which eats away at the soul and morale. Strengthen these young people who bear arms for freedom in their resolve to stand firm and fulfill their duties in the highest honor and standards which they hold for themselves. Indeed, through your intercession, grant them the gift of being able to transcend themselves in their service. Send to each of them directly the love we have in our hearts for them and for what they are doing for us. We ask that they will each be granted miracles of protection from your heart and from the hand and sword of Archangel Michael. Send forth your legions of angels to guide, guard, direct and protect CC's unit and all our troops, allies, and civilian contractors!

We thank you Father, for hearing our prayer. You are our beloved Father and we know how you care for us. You are our magnificent God, and we know how you care for this world and the Vision you have for it. Please, Father, share increments of your Vision with our President, our leaders and our people. Help us to move this nation and civilization in the course you have ordained. Let all opposition to your plan and Vision be shattered and confuted.

Let all which we have called forth for Cheney Chick's fallen comrade, his family, and loved ones be granted for each and every person who is in a similar situation of need. Let only your divine Will take place in our lives, on the battlefield, and in the earth. For we declare and claim in the name of our Lord Christ, "The EARTH is the Lord's and the fullness thereof!" The Enemy and those aligned with Death and Hell ultimately have no Power because our God is a God of Life, Love, and Mercy!

Thank you for your prayers and faithfulness. You have no idea how much comfort it brings to know that folks back home are praying fervently. We know that His eye is on the sparrow and we put our faith and trust in His Plan. It is hard to even try to attempt to understand the ugliness of war. But our resolve is strong. BELOVED FATHER IN HEAVEN,

We ask that you will enfold the family and loved ones of Sgt. Brian Wood. Comfort them and hold them strong and peaceful in your arms. Help them in their efforts to spread abroad the words left by Brian. Guide them during their time of mourning.

We are so grateful for Brian and the decision he made to protect this nation and to liberate another which was under the Tyrant's heel. We can never repay the debt. Father, despite that, convey to his soul our gratitude and help us to live in such a way that pays honor to that sacrifice.

Let all who mourn be comforted. Let all who strive under tyranny be liberated. Let those who have sacrificed be blessed and honored. Let all who hunger for your touch and Love be filled.

Prayer bump for Sgt. Brian Wood.

Brian Wood is indeed a hero, and I thank his family for their tremendous sacrifice.

I just found out that a former patient's dad is serving in Iraq. His wife visited the unit this evening and asked that prayers be sent for the safety of Brad Smalling, father of 2 young boys, one who is a miracle child.

He is a wonderful husband and father and I pray that he is able to come home to his family.

PRAYER WARRIOR FIELD TRIP!!

Tolik has posted a recent Victor David Hanson article which is fairly brief but is a good summary of where we stand in Iraq. It is a blistering commentary about the voices which are muttering and peeping and seeking to steal from our troops their victory. He points out that those voices are behaving in similar manner to those which stripped from us the victory we had won of the Tet Offensive in Viet Nam. If you decide to make the trip, be sure to check out beckett's post 35 which is an email from a soldier serving near Fallujah.
