Troop Prayer Thread 10 - A Year of VICTORY!

Posted on 03/19/2004 12:51:59 PM PST by TEXOKIE

THREE CHEERS FOR OUR WONDERFUL TROOPS, THEIR ALLIES, AND ALL WHO ARE SERVING IN SUPPORT CAPACITIES IN THE WAR ON TERROR! YOU HAVE GIVEN THIS NATION A YEAR OF VICTORY IN THAT WAR! The honor is yours, but know that we bask in your accomplishments and love you for your steadfast service on this day!

Welcome, everyone to the 10th Troop Prayer Thread! Today is the anniversary of the resumption of hostilities with Iraq, wherein our troops have made military history that shall ring down the centuries.

The troop prayer threads are dedicated to giving our troops, allies, and all who are serving the Holy Cause of Freedom, including (but not limited to) the families and loved ones waiting at home and those who are not in uniform but who are serving in dangerous situations supporting our troops and gathering intelligence spiritual support. We seek together to offer prayer, scriptures, encouraging messages, and other devotions dedicated to this purpose.

We have over the past year gathered together a prayer list of these servants of freedom. You will find it posted below. FReeper amom has been serving as our List Keeper this past year and I wish to thank and commend her for doing such a meticulous job of keeping it updated. She has also been keeping our ping list up to date. If you wish to submit a name for the prayer list or to add or take off a name from the ping list, please let either or both of us know.

For those of us who have somewhat limited computer capacity, or still have phone modems, we request that graphics be limited to pictures of loved ones for whom we are offering prayers, special visuals that seem particularly appropriate, and as much as possible, non-moving graphics. Thank you.

Thank you so much for spiritually supporting our troops, allies, support civilians, and their families.

We are grateful to God that for those who have been injured or taken back Home, He has dispatched angels to their care.

Dear Lord,
Lest I continue
My complacent way
Help me remember
Somewhere out there
A man died for me today
--As long as there be war
I then must
Ask and answer
Am I worth dying for?"

Taken from the book, "A Man Called Intrepid" by William Stevenson about William Stephenson, the head of British intelligence services prior to and during WWII. He wrote this at the very beginnings of the Battle of Britain and shared it with Eleanor Roosevelt.

STAR SPANGELED BANNER

Oh, say, can you see, by the dawn's early light,
What so proudly we hail'd at the twilight's last gleaming?
Whose broad stripes and bright stars, thro' the perilous fight,
O'er the ramparts we watch'd, were so gallantly streaming?

And the rockets' red glare, the bombs bursting in air,
Gave proof thro' the night that our flag was still there.
O say, does that star-spangled banner yet wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave?

On the shore dimly seen thro' the mists of the deep,
Where the foe's haughty host in dread silence reposes,
What is that which the breeze, o'er the towering steep,
As it fitfully blows, half conceals, half discloses?

Now it catches the gleam of the morning's first beam,
In full glory reflected, now shines on the stream:
'T is the star-spangled banner: O, long may it wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!

And where is that band who so vauntingly swore
That the havoc of war and the battle's confusion
A home and a country should leave us no more?
Their blood has wash'd out their foul footsteps' pollution.

No refuge could save the hireling and slave
From the terror of flight or the gloom of the grave:
And the star-spangled banner in triumph doth wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave.

O, thus be it ever when freemen shall stand,
Between their lov'd homes and the war's desolation;
Blest with vict'ry and peace, may the heav'n-rescued land
Praise the Pow'r that hath made and preserv'd us as a nation!

Then conquer we must, when our cause is just,
And this be our motto: "In God is our trust"
And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!

Comment On the Recent Troll Activity of the One Known To Us As Bogdan

I want to thank all of you who were gracious to alert me to the recent manipulations of the one many of us had become fond of, known as Bogdan. Several have offered their apologies for soliciting prayers for him at his request.

I wish to categorically state that it is a very sad thing to feel one has to apologize for one's own compassion. Therefore, I will accept none of those apologies. The ones I know as friends here are among the most compassionate I have ever encountered, and it is NOT to their discredit that they took someone at face value in his request for prayer. While all of us who took Bogdan at face value may feel foolish, we were at least "fools for Christ" which is never a bad thing.

He held himself out to be a new recruit to our Air Force and a lover of this nation and the freedoms she represents. IMHO the support we gave him is symbolic of the support we feel and give the real heroes. Our motives and response to Bogdan were entirely in alignment with our stated purpose: to support spiritually those who are our troops. The fact that he wasnt really one of them doesnt mean that our prayers did not go to those real heroes for whom they were offered.

I suggest that while much good DID come from the prayers which we offered, Bogdan will reap something much different, for he sowed the whirlwind. It is my belief that the one known to us as Bogdan will be held accountable before the Throne one day for his little "joke." I, for one, would not want to be in his shoes for making so light of the trust and good will of those who love the Lord and who seek to serve His children.

Bogdan, if you read this, believe it or not, I and many here do pray for you to awaken and learn to use your life in a more constructive manner. I pray that the words which you wrote of your love of this nation and of freedom will penetrate your heart and that one day you will know deeply the Truth of them. May the Truth lead you to a Higher Place of service. May the Lord God love you enough to chasten you before it is time to be held accountable.

He's obviously a sick puppy.

But on to greater things. My friends Ed and Tonie will be in DC next week visiting Walter Reed. They have stocked their Trucks (americastruck.org) and will be distributing presents spiritual and patriotic to our heroes.

I'm with you on that one TEXOKIE, but I don't feel the least bit foolish. When I found out about it, I just shook my head and prayed that God would take our prayers and use them for those who deserve them, and asked that He show Bogdan how wrong he was. God is very good at taking something bad and turning it to good, I trust that He will do the same over this.

Thank you, TEX.

Perhaps he will read this. I hope so.

I love bogdan still. I'm very sorry that others reacted so quickly and with an anger out of proportion to the supposed harm done to us.

We still don't know that truth.

I leave it in His hands.

I pray that if bogdan did lose his young wife, he will be comforted by our prayers.

I miss his help with the war news.

I'm sorry our fellow-Freepers didn't ask a few more questions before condemning him, and without giving him a chance to explain.

I am so grateful to you for this post, and to all of our FRiends, who forgive us and lift us up when we all will err and disappoint.

God bless our troops, fellow Freepers, prayer warriors, and all who love our troops!

((Hugs))
