Somewhere I read a quote, maybe someone here knows who said it...."Aussies are mostly Texas cowboys with neat accents."

I think Howard will get back in.

For the US people here, his competition, Mark Latham, is still 'new' in the job as the other choice (like Kerry, I mean, Latham has been around forever, but he's only been Opposition Leader for a short time) and I think that fact alone is what has him ahead of Howard in the polls at the moment. The fact that the guy has no vision and NO policies will become a reality to everyone soon and Howard will move ahead, and win the election. I don't believe Latham will get in for a second. And with Howard as leader, a Spain type scenario here would only strengthen his determination, he wouldn't buckle. That I am 110% sure of.

BTW Our election dates aren't set in stone as they are in the US. It has to happen at some time during this year, but the timing of it is Howards choosing. I can guarantee it will be long before the US elections, and he'll call it with the minimum 'official' campaigning time he can as per the rules (I think that's about a month?). We are, however, well and truly getting into campaign mode here. I'm betting it will be called anytime between 'any day now' at the earliest and July at the latest.

G'day mic!

"Any country that allies itself with the United States, unfortunately, is a target," Pistole told Sydney's 2UE radio station."

That's a given.

However in no way should it be used as a reason not to back America.

Should America have not supported Britain,Australia etc etc etc during WW2 because they would have been more of a target to the Germans,Japanese etc?

I have no doubt that if we here downunder were the recipients of 911 Bush would have been on the phone to Howard in 5 minutes flat asking which direction to aim!

The 'world' is in even bigger trouble than it is already if the likes of Kerry et al are elected.

God bless America and all those who sail with her.
