LM here.

It's been a while since we had a thread along these lines.

I can tell from comments I am seeing in threads, on abuse reports, and in Freepmail that some people are unhappy with various policies and their implementations by the staff here.

I've seen allegations that certain factions are picked on. I've seen allegations that the moderators have killed activism. I've heard rumors that we killed Kenny, and even that we killed the radio star. I see certain personality conflicts acting up, and know that one (or both) sides in it feel that we aren't doing what we should.

So let's open this can of worms.

This thread is for making your grievances heard. If you think something stinks or is wrong, make your case here. Back it up with facts. Let the audience at large weigh in on your evidence.

I'll read the thread. Jim will too in all likelihood. So will the other moderators. Depending upon how well you make your point, and depending on if you can convince Jim, me, the other moderators, and/or the world, maybe you can change things. And if you don't, then it might make you feel better to have vented, so it won't make this thread a total loss.

I'm not going to reply to this thread for quite a while. Rather, I am going to sit back and watch to try and get a feel for the general tenor. I encourage those who are both happy and unhappy with things to particpate in this thread.

Venting would imply that I'm not happy. Well, I'm not. I'm not happy with:

• The Leftist Media pushing John F'em Ke(rr)y down our throats.
• Milwaukee's mayoral race, which features a very liberal homeless pol versus a very liberal crook.
• The Spaniards, who have proven that they descended from the French.
• NASCAR creating playoffs.
• Marquette trying to duck UWM in the NIT (forcing UWM to survive 2 games before they get their hands on the oh-so-politically-correct Golden Eagles).
• Major League Baseball in general, and the Selig family in particular.
• (Non-)moderators who can't spell (just kidding :-)

Other than that, I'm happy.

When I first started visiting FR I heard all kinds of rumors, and even got some E-mails, about how they stifled different opinions.

However in the 2-3 years that I have been here I have not found that to be true and I certainly do not hold the popular opinions that are found at this site. I haven't even gotten so much as a warning from anyone.

But then again I do not use profanity with people, I try not to be derisive, although occasionally I slip, and I try to be respectful of others opinions even though I don't agree with them.

I suppose the biggest problem I have with FR is that I occasionally spend too much time on it and do not get things done that I should be getting done. But then again, that’s my problem. So as far as I am concerned the operators of this board are very fair and evenhanded and are doing a great job.

I find it rather fun to slam on leftists ("liberals" in the vernacular) but there aren't any to be had on FR.

I am curious about the specifics of why trolls get booted. I kind of miss having MurrayMom to kick around, particularly since I am unable to collect on a bet we made about the direction of the stock market.
