Get Yer Ya-Yas Out [FR Moderating Gripe Thread]
Posted on 03/15/2004 11:01:45 AM PST by I Am Not A Mod
Edited on 03/15/2004 11:03:07 AM PST by Lead Moderator.
[history]
LM here.
It's been a while since we had a thread along these lines.
I can tell from comments I am seeing in threads, on abuse reports, and in Freepmail that some people are unhappy with various policies and their implementations by the staff here.
I've seen allegations that certain factions are picked on. I've seen allegations that the moderators have killed activism. I've heard rumors that we killed Kenny, and even that we killed the radio star. I see certain personality conflicts acting up, and know that one (or both) sides in it feel that we aren't doing what we should.
So let's open this can of worms.
This thread is for making your grievances heard. If you think something stinks or is wrong, make your case here. Back it up with facts. Let the audience at large weigh in on your evidence.
I'll read the thread. Jim will too in all likelihood. So will the other moderators. Depending upon how well you make your point, and depending on if you can convince Jim, me, the other moderators, and/or the world, maybe you can change things. And if you don't, then it might make you feel better to have vented, so it won't make this thread a total loss.
I'm not going to reply to this thread for quite a while. Rather, I am going to sit back and watch to try and get a feel for the general tenor. I encourage those who are both happy and unhappy with things to particpate in this thread.
Let's rock.

Thanks.
Probably won't stop.
It's the only easy, non html way to emphasize words
and phrases I've come up with--without so many of the CAPS which so many seem to be allergic to!
Thanks for your kind words. I persistently enjoy your posts as ever.

The comments about nopardons make me feel as if I've stumbled onto an LP thread.
She & I went at it tooth and nail one night, and we've been great friends ever since. :-)
Yep. Good to hear that from you Amelia.
LP must be enjoying the heck out of this thread.
Maybe I ought to ping dead Fred? OK, why not.

If I were lying or you had any conviction it would. Since neither apply, not so much. So far the only "vile and putrid" comments have been directed at her, not from her and mostly without even the courtesy of being notified.. Now you want someone banned who should that be? The victim or the aggressor?

Like minded being Republican, not conservative. There is a wide chasm of a difference between the two anymore and you know it. Ridiculous. FR has always been a place for like minded conservatives. I vote for the person that best represents my views. Sometimes that's an independent, it's never a Democrat, and more than likely it's a Republican. Doesn't make the two equal. I'll vote against a RINO if his ideals are no different than a liberal.
As to your whining about one poster you don't like and see as "getting away" with things, you need to broaden your horizon. I could name dozens. FR has more than it's share of knee-jerkers that fly off the handle with all kinds of choice words for someone just posting an idea for discussion.
As in all words and ideas, every single one of us has written something and got several posts calling us complete idiots while others totally agree. When someone calls me a total moron, I usually (not always), just move on and remind myself to ignore them. In many cases, it's just something misunderstood and later I can be posting to them on another thread. Some I'll get into a tit for tat and that usually ends on it's own or a moderator says stop and I do.
But if anything I've learned, it's not my forum. It's not my equipment. It's not my domain. I accept the rules, like them or not.

Maybe I need to go pray or take a cold shower or something.
Your post reminded me . . .
I had two friends in college.
She had red hair down to her knees--had never been cut.
He was always saying that they were going off to play Lady Godiva and he was going to be the horse.

Stalking one website so you can bitch about it on another website has to be about as pitiful as you can get.

I spotted that, and I agree. Place has changed in the past couple of years, and that's to be expected as the number of posts has gone through the roof. I don't have the time to read through a lot of them anymore, but I still glean enough to keep bugging my reps in Harrisburg and DC -- not that it does much good, but the form letters make good fire-starters.
Be well. FRiend,
Mike.

You're right, someone did ping her.
ME.
I pinged her as soon as I came to this thread.
But the slams against her started in post #19.
Imagine that.
