Socialists claim Spanish victory
March 15, 2004
SPAIN'S opposition Socialist Party today claimed victory in the nation's general election and said it was in a position to form a government.
An official count of 77 per cent of the ballots showed the opposition Socialists (PSOE) with a clear lead.
The ruling Popular Party (PP) had 37.1 per cent of the vote and the Socialists 43.1 per cent, the interior ministry said.
The turnout stood at 77 per cent.

Ha! Good one!
"In one fell swoop, voters ousted Aznar, whose party was favored to win just days ago, even though he brought Spain eight straight years of economic growth, made it a founding member of the euro single currency, cut unemployment in half and brought a degree of prominence to a long-ignored country."

Who says terroism doesn't pay? Al Qaeda held the Spanish elections hostage and the Spanish people paid the ransom with their votes.
The new socialist Spanish head already said in his victory speech that his first action would to bring home the 1300 Spanish troops deployed in Iraq.
The spanish people have validated terrorism. They have taught the terrorists that their tactics worked and worked very well. And if it worked this time in Spain, then it can work again in another country.

Well, that's a good point. Al-Q'aeda's usual M.O. is to brag first and not to claim responsibility afterward. Although, since the main Al-Q'aeda cells have broken up, I've been reading that OBL has been trying to "pass the torch" to something more akin to franchise operations in different parts of the world.
Apparently OBL's strategy revolved around turning the election......by shocking the apathetic (Lefty) voters to go out and register a mindless "protest"........
This is truly bad news....I don't know what to tell you.
Just for some perspective on the guy who was voted out of office:
