I've been buying Hunt's, Del Monte and local brands etc, instead of Heinz, since last summer. I sure can't tell the difference, except in price. Probably won't make much of a difference, but it's all I can do. I just wish I could do something that would affect both John F*cking & Teresa Heinz-Kerry/Kerry-Heinz more directly and catastrophically, financially

Thanks! I'm having a blast learning my new graphics software. I had no idea much fun it could be for a fine artist to learn instant pictorial gratification.

Boycott them if you want, but it's kind of silly. I don't think she or any other living person named Heinz has any hand in running the company. She runs the Heinz family foundation, but that has no more to do with the company than the Rockefeller Foundation has to do with Exxon. I don't even even think her deceased husband, Senator John Heinz (R-PA) had involvement with the company management once he went into politics. His father, Howard, was the last family member to serve on the board. After him, they went public --- sometime in the early 60s I think. Here's the management list. You can look up the BoD too. Her name is not there.

This would kind of being like boycotting Exxon because you don't like Jay Rockefeller or the Rockefeller foundation. Yes, all his money is from the Standard oil trust, but he never had a damn thing to do with it. Same with this Teresa Heinz. I don't know how much stock she may or may not own, but to my knowledge, she has never had involvement with running the company.

I think Heinz just has a branding agreement with Jack Daniels. The distillery is still in good hands. Stick with the straight sauce (wink wink nod nod). Just don't use the grilling sauce.

Nope - I can't do it. I'm hooked on their Ketchup. I also like their 57 varieties of pickles. This is too close to home & I will not join you.

Okay, Del Monte's back on my "OK List". Thanks. Didn't see it amongst all those corp logos, or on the list, but one poster said it was. Should have checked around before making a decision like that. Thanks for the heads-up, ahayes.

Nick, I appreciate your gathering and presenting of the information concerning Theresa Heinz's connection to Heinz Corp and how a Heinz boycott is irrational. As a followup I received the following from Heinz via email.

March 15, 2004 Dear xxxxxxxxxx, Thank you for visiting the Heinz website. We appreciate you taking the time to contact us and giving us this opportunity to respond to your email. The H.J. Heinz Company was founded in 1869 by Henry John Heinz, a native of Sharpsburg, Pa. For 135 years, the company has stood for quality, great taste and innovation and today is a global food company whose Chairman & CEO is Mr. William R. Johnson. The company is respectful of all members of the Heinz family because of their connection to our founder and succeeding generations and their accomplishments. The last Heinz family member to be fully involved with the company was H.J. Heinz II, who served as the company's chairman until his death in 1987. Since that time, no Heinz family member has been employed by the H.J. Heinz Company or associated with its Board of Directors. H.J. Heinz II was the father of the late Senator John Heinz, the charismatic politician who was tragically killed in a helicopter accident in 1991. The Heinz Family Endowments - the philanthropic arm of the Heinz family – is chaired by Mrs. Teresa Heinz Kerry. Mrs. Kerry and the Heinz family trusts and endowments are not significant shareholders of H.J. Heinz Company. Neither Sen. John Kerry nor Teresa Heinz Kerry is involved in the management of H.J. Heinz Company. Additionally, there is no connection between H.J. Heinz Company Foundation and the Heinz Family Endowments. Any comments or presentations made by Senator Kerry and Mrs. Heinz Kerry reflect their personal views. Because they are not affiliated with H.J. Heinz Company, they do not speak on behalf of its management or employees. No portion of Heinz product proceeds goes to any political candidate. In fact, Federal election law prohibits corporations from donating to political campaigns. Also it has long been the Heinz company's policy to refrain from commenting on presidential campaigns. We do not communicate consumer comments to any candidates. Thanks again for contacting us and allowing us to address your concerns. Heinz Consumer Resource Center Heinzconsumeraffairs@hjheinz.com

>> No, her son is campaigning for Kerry.......and was asked why he changed parties since his father was a Republican.......<<

I believe his name is Chris Heinz and what was his answer?

BTW, over a month ago I sent an email to Heinz Corp. stating I was boycotting them. I think it's important for the corporation to know this and the reasons for it. Teresa has been a nut funding leftist organizations long before this campaign. ACES which is a corrupt organization founded by Gerri Jenson to chase down fathers who have been run out of their children's lives to collect more $$$ from them is but one of many organizations MS.Heinz funds.

Also, TGIFridays and Boston Market are also owned by Heinz.

We're in--will not buy any of these products or Progressive insurance-these idiots can stick it. They don't understand the democrat party is the party of government intrusion into their business and ever higher taxes to pay for votes, and trial lawyers to sue them.

He gave some vague answer about how over the past 4 years he had "come" to embrace the ideals of the Democratic party or some such crap.......... a very planned way of saying that President Bush was pushing him to realize how wrong he had been or something..........

Dang it - Friday's is the only decent restaurant around here.........

ketchup (KET-chup) n. from catsup, cat soup, soup made of cats. (sarcasm). I use a mixture of ketchup and spicy mustard on my fries...or sometimes I use gravy (even better).

Can you locate and post donations to Democrats in the same time frame please?

You can find donations for anyone at www.fec.gov. Click on "Campaign Reports and Data," then "Individual Reports." You can look up anybody. For individuals though, you can't select on Democrat or Republican. All contributions to anyone pop out on the same list.

Restaurants are probably the only customers for Heinz products. I tried Ore-Ida once.
