SACRAMENTO -- California legislators said on Thursday they want to stop the use of all paperless electronic voting machines in the state, fearing the same type of fiasco that plagued Florida in the 2000 election.
State Sens. Don Perata (D-Oakland) and Ross Johnson (R-Irvine), the chairman and vice chairman of the Senate election committee, sent a letter to Secretary of State Kevin Shelley urging him to decertify all paperless touch-screen voting machines before the general election.

I don't give a rats ass if Democrats or Republicans are responsible. What I do care about is honest elections. Your argument is a straw man. The citizens of Ft Worth are generally Republican...I know it and so do you! The point I am making is voting fraud can now be done on a large scale by one person. As for your argument that Dem's are the only ones doing the hacking...it isn't about that either.
Suppose a terrorist, that had had no background check, got a job in a county elections office. With a few strokes of the mouse and keypad we have rigged election, and his choice of candidate. Without a paper ballot as a record...you would never know. Again this is not about Democrat or Republican...it is about your vote my vote and every other American's vote.
On the Sequoia system...I have seen it hacked in literally seconds. When the election is closed the hack goes away. It is a fact...it is a danger to Republicans and Democrats.
Paper Ballots...Not Vapor Ballots.

I dunno, your responses make me question further whether you are really interested in the facts, or just whatever supports you agenda. Tarrant County is Republican, but the city of Ft. Worth is Democrat, having just elected another Democrat for mayor, Mike Moncrief. The Star-Telegram leans left in its coverage, and much further left in its editorial positions. Ask most any North Texan.
When that error was pointed out to you, instead of noting it, learning, and moving on, you chose to deny the facts, restate a false argument, and take it as a personal attack. Which just makes me wonder if there is another side to this whole electronic voting issue that you are similarly denying.
Again, I thought we were on the same side, against e-voting and considering it vulnerable to vote fraud. Now I wonder if there is more that you aren't telling us, and whether you have an agenda other than just purity of the voting method. Hopefully note, hopefully you are just reacting emotionally, and your intentions are just as you state. But can you see how an error in an argument can quickly lead to questioning and suspicion in those you are trying to persuade? Can you see how it can make it that much harder to convince them of your message?
Ignore it at your own risk, but among Republicans there is a profound mistrust of Democrats when it comes to the voting process, because of their long pattern of vote fraud throughout the country, in big towns(Chicago, Houston, Dallas, St. Louis, Philadelphia, Boston, etc.) and small(El Paso, South Dakota(google 'Becky Red Earth'), South Texas, rural Tennessee, etc.) So anytime Democrats, like in California, are pushing for vote reform, many of us are immediately suspicious, even when it is a bipartisan effort, as in this case.
I have no idea if you are a Democrat or Republican, but I do know that you are fairly new, and while I am interested in your issue and arguments, still approach each poster and thread with a healthy skepticism, the 'trust but verify' concept. Statement supported and reinforced by facts build credibility, mistakes or falsehoods hurt that. Now some idiots here will get carried away and cry 'Moby' and 'troll' at every fairly new poster. Very annoying, but a reaction based in part on the fact that there have been Democrats who have advocated coming on Free Republic to pose as conservatives and create havoc and spread disinformation. So against that backdrop you may face a good deal of scrutiny.
Just an FYI, hopefully this is just a mountain out of a molehill, but wanted to give you some background on why your post raised some minor red flags. Consider your audience.

Diddle...ok thatnks for the information on Ft Worth...I have been away from Texas for a long time.
Truly and sincerely...I am for HONEST elections. As I stated earlier. If it is Dem or Repubs...if they are cheating they should be ousted.
My only axe to grind, is clean fair elections...free of fraud.
