There are reports of several explosions and fire at the BP AMOCO plant on FM 519 in Texas City. Authorities have requested residents shelter in place in Texas City and La Marque.

wirestripper and eastforker observed that the BP AMOCO plant was shutting down a unit for some planned construction. Apparently that is a dangerous task.
