ROME, March 12 (Reuters) - Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi will go to Spain on Friday to join nationwide protests against the bomb attacks in Madrid that killed nearly 200 people, his spokesman said.

"This afternoon Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi will go to Madrid to participate in the demonstration against terrorism," spokesman Paolo Bonaiuti said.

Spanish Prime Minister Jose Maria Aznar has called for protests across Spain in the wake of Thursday's blasts, under the slogan "With the Victims, With the Constitution, For the Defeat of Terrorism." Berlusconi is a personal friend of Aznar and the two leaders were staunch supporters of the U.S.-led war on Iraq.

I stand with them in spirit.

May God bless and comfort the families of the terror victims.
