Do either of you have links to articles reporting findings of cocaine and nicotine on Egyptian mummies?

I'm sorry. I have never seen an article on it. I have heard it on different history-channel-type programs. I'm sure it must be out there though. My husband and step-son heard (read?) about it and it has been dinner conversation several times. Nor is it new. It was several years ago that we talked through this.

Thanks for the link. The article reminded me of the Ra expeditions by Heyerdahl. Coca is indigenous to Peru. Also in Peru (as in Egypt) are reed boats, mummies, and Pyramids. It would be interesting to see comparitive pharmacological findings for Peruvian mummies. The Egyptian mummies raised eyebrows because of the presence of hashish, cocaine, and nicotine, with the latter two coming from the New World. A similar trifecta in a Peruvian mummy, especially hashish, would seal the deal.

You're welcome.:-)

It's Jonas Salk, and although he loved taking credit for finding the cure for polio he was just building on the work of others who are mostly forgotten. Drs Robbins, Enders, and Weller won the 1954 Nobel Prize for their 1949 discovery of how to grow the human polio virus in a test tube. Salk figured out a way to mass produce it, and a way to take credit for everything polio related. Salk was a public relations genius who should be the envy of Hollywood.

(the US population in the year 2100 will exceed a billion, perhaps even three billion.)

The antibacterial effect of bath soap would deter the growth and be a hostile environment for the bug that causes the symptoms and sequence of the disease. Bacteria resistant bugs are multiplying.
