Just wondering: Why do we get worked up about the stupid political stunts the Dems keep trying?
one man's opinion

Everyone here agrees that the dems have sunk to new lows the last few months with their attacks against President Bush over his National Guard service, and now, his use of the 9/11 images in his campaign ads. Yes, their attacks are disgusting..unmitigated lies. But, perhaps, we shouldn't be so upset. After all, the Dems have displayed a batting average of .000% in political acumen during the last four years. IOW, whatever stunt they try usually blows up in their faces. Consider, if you will...

Because those of us afflicted with yellow-dog Democrat family/friends are watching them eat Kerry's crap up, and aligning themselves in the effort to oust W at any cost.

It scares me to death, makes me physically ill.

I'll tell you why.

1. The Dems nominate a lying, draft-dodging, ultra-liberal charlatan shyster with a harridan for a wife. DUMB — BUT IT WORKS!

2. The Dems circle the wagons and unitedly defend the Dem President, though he is an arrogant, hypcritical, lying, draft-dodging, ultra-liberal charlatan shyster with a harridan for a wife, was cauight-red-handed, deceived the nation, had lied under oath, suborned perjury, abused his office, and disgraced his party and the nation. DUMB — BUT IT WORKS!

3. The Dems renominate their disgraced, shameful, moral trainwreck of a candidate as President. DUMB — BUT IT WORKS!

4. The Dems nominate as his replacement his totally discredited, laughable moron of a VP. DUMB — BUT IT WORKS WITH MOST VOTERS!

5. The Dems try to steal that election. DUMB — BUT IT ALMOST WORKS!

6. The Dems disenfranchise the military vote. DUMB — BUT THEY SUFFER NO HARM!

7. The Dems in the Senate disown a Hispanic judicial candidate because hes not the "right kind" of Hispanic, patent racism. DUMB — BUT IT WORKS!

8. The Dems filibuster repeatedly to block mainstream/conservative, qualified judicial candidates. DUMB — BUT IT WORKS!

Needs I go on?

I don't think it is so much the lying, sleaziness, and chicanery of the Democrats that gets people worked up - - everybody KNOWS the Democrats are lying scumbags. What upsets those of us with a clue is the complicity of the networks and the liberal newsrooms that, as a residual of their decades-long monopoly, get to puke their spin into so many unsuspecting living rooms every night.

The "new media", the internet, talk radio, and 24-hour cable news, has taken big strides in softening the destructive impact of the networks but so much damage has already been done to our country that we are impatient for the final demise of the liberal newspapers and network news. They can't fold fast enough.

I understand that, and even feel it myselves, often, and I wasn't trying to make light of it, just trying to point out the obvious, more often than not, the Dems screw up..they seem to think the National Guard service issue will be a big one..I think not..I thinj it will turn the spotlight on Kerry's Vietnam record, and things will come out...like Cleland..he wasn't a war hero, he was a brave, and possibly slightly inebriated clutz when he had his sad accident...look, we're starting to hear a few things about Kerry's wartime, and after record..and it's early..

We get worked up for several reasons...

- a sense of outrage that anyone who holds American citizenship would make some of the public statements and outrageous charges that they do

- a sense of anger that their desire for political power trumps any concern they may have for our national well-being (or even survival).

- a sense of frustration that their lap-dogs in the media just shovel this stuff down the chute without giving it a second thought

- a sense of fear that our fellow Americans may not be smart or savvy enough to catch on to what they are doing (see..."General Election Campaign, 1992")

This is exactly why we should express "over the top" outrage EVERY time the democrats try ANYTHING. Make them look like the "mean spirited" jackasses they actually are.

Whenever you attack someone you instantly put them on the defensive. It is MUCH better for you if your enemy is fighting a defensive battle rather than an offensive one.

Overload them, get them off message (not that they have one), make them talk about things they rather not talk about (defensive), put the seed of doubt in voters minds then continue to fertilize it with endless amounts of negative info.

All the tactical stuff aside. the most important thing to do is safeguard the polling places in whatever way we can. The dems will never stop stealing elections through fraud until they are made to stop. I recommend video cameras, hidden microphones and courage. This evidence may not be allowed in a court of law but it will be heard in the court of public opinion. Although not a primary objective, if there is enough public outrage (primary objective helped along by us) then criminal proceedings may actually be brought against the guilty.

Excellent rant.....really good..congrats...now allow me to respond...and remember, we're on the same side here..

By nominating Clinton, and tying themselves to him and his wife, the Dems lost the House and the Senate..and probably won't have a chance of getting either back for a decade..and ingoing now with another Mass liberal, they;ll lose the election, the GOP will gain a few senate seats..and W will get all his judges, and a few Supreme Court nominees as well, through...war isn't pretty, but it's the end result that counts...

We dont hate them for what they've done to the political process. We hate them because they are socialists who wish to relieve us all of the burden of liberty and freedom, along with our money.

Nail... Head.... Bamm!!!

Tell me... I only became "politically aware" about 10 years ago and I notice the amazing amount of press bias. Do you think with the internet, talk radio, and fox being out there now that the "big media" has gone further left than ever?? Or... were they always this blatant???

Your analysis is spot on! The problem is that more than half the people in this country exhibit the intelligence quotient of rocks; you know, the people that continue to vote for Democrats time and again, regardless of the strikingly visible damage they have done to our country. When I consider the fact that the Democrats have been in control of this country for seventy years, it seems to me that any success we have had as a nation can only be attributed to the mysterious hand of God! We sure haven't deserved His blessings based on the corruption, criminality, and moral rot of the Democrat gang that represents over half of the US population.

Now now, calm down, you're getting the other Freepers all worked up.

By the way, does anyone remember that Republican Senator who got 15 minutes of fame by switching parties in 2001 to give the Democrats a majority? Does he still have his committee position or whatever he wanted?

Oh, I'm not arguing at you. Read vanmorrison's post responding to mine; I agree verbatim with everything he says, and he isolates my point better than I did. What I am saying is, we get upset because what they do — stupid and evil and irrational and immoral as it is — works! And it works because (apparently) the average voter is dumber than a boxfull of hair.

I say this seriously: every time I see a poll that has the President less than double-digits AHEAD of Kerry (which is to say, every time I see ANY poll), I fear for the Republic. And don't even bother to mention where we are in the campaign. Kerry and his mindset and his party SHOULD BY RIGHTS be totally discredited to all of America. Getting a vote for them should be harder than getting a babysitting gig for Michael Jackson. SHOULD BE. The fact that it isn't, is a cause for real alarm.

Remember: it's the state of affairs that has me animated. Not you.

We get worked up because good people think everyone thinks just like them! Good people are good and that's where it ends, we follow rules, we tell and love truth. Then End.

This is all foreign to them and laughable. They don't think like us. They don't believe they are accountable to anyone for lying - end of story.

So we analyze it because we don't want to believe this about them, that they would intentionally lie, so we rack our brains trying to think of some other lame excuse for why they do what they do. I suppose it could be explained by what Corinthians 13 says, we really want to believe in them, that they are not intentionally, purposefully, goalfully (new word) liars - but they are. And it's not necessarily a bad trait on our part, not like we keep going back for more torture, it's just we're hopeful, and we know this UNITED states and it's survival is based on bringing them to this side, so we have to figure out why they are there, and how to get them here.

This gets me worked up BIG TIME:

By the way what Teresa is doing:

When Teresa Heinz-Kerry arrived, she handed me a pin that read in the center:
“Asses of Evil”
with “Bush”, “Cheney”, “Rumsfeld” and “Ashcroft” surrounding it.

Me too.

Trent Lott makes a lame, ill-thought-out joke, and is ridden out of town on a rail in spite of apologies.

THEY say vile, evil, slanderous, even arguably treasonous things — and it's yawn, shrug, renew attack. NO apology needed.

How can one not get worked up?

Right.

You know, I think Joe McCarthy was right. We're paying the price now for not backing him up then.
