Rep. Peter King charged in a television interview yesterday that leaders at 85% of nation's mosques hold extremist views. In an interview with WNBC-TV's "News Forum," King said many leaders of mosques have made irresponsible statements about the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.
"I don't see any need to be politically correct here, the stakes are too high," said the Long Island Republican.
King said he came upon the figure that 85% of mosque leaders have extremist views while researching his novel about the World Trade Center attacks titled, "Vale of Tears."
Muslim groups on Long Island have denounced the claim, accusing King of fanning anti-Muslim sentiment to sell his book.
"When I have police telling me the Muslim community is not coming forward and cooperating, I have a responsibility to speak out," King said. "The Muslim leaders have to be more responsible and there should be new leadership."

I thought King used to be a RINO.

America needs a mass deportation of about 90% of the Muslims that are currently taking up space in our country. Round 'em up, confiscate their property, and send their butts home!

This is a legitimate complaint of their entire worldview. They absolutely don't want assimulation. They need isolation and they approve of violence as a means of achieving their ends.
So why would they cooperate and speak out? Obviously they don't speak out and they aren't cooperating with police and they won't be doing so in the future.
But let's face it! That's who they are! They don't make very good Americans, that's all there is to it. Duh!
Judeo-Christian values and influence gave birth to America. Look at the Saudi kingdom and the entire backwards Arab world to see what a "great" respectful, tolerant societies Islam can create.
We're so stupid!!!

I long for those values we once had.

King has always been pro-law enforcement. A good man. I wonder how he will reconcile with Bush (Soon to be Pres. of Mexico)statement on the "Religion of Peace"...you know "Slay the infidel where you find him"... as in World Trade Center etc.

King was a big time supporter of slick willie and his various escapades but 9/11 turned him into a mensch!

He's been saying this for a while.
Let's hope he keeps it up, because, nobody else is.

New leadership? Maybe eliminating the religion should be an option.

I like PK; just got real pissed at him during the clintoon impeachment preceedings back in '98. He wanted to move on from that and leave clintoon alone while we wanted clintoon to move out of DC.

I agree that Muslims are dangerous.

It's not necessarily a Democrat-Republican issue whether the broad mass of Muslims support terrorists.
This is really an issue on which many in the middle are taking sides, and Peter King seems to have opted for the forces of light. As he is quoted in the article as saying, the stakes are too high to be politically correct.
I think more and more people are coming to this conclusion. There was a stunning article in the Chicago Tribune about two weeks ago called something like "The Rise of Militant Islam." Although the article contradicted nearly everything written in the Tribune on that topic since September 11 -- and ultimately backed down by focussing on religious issues at one mosque instead of the terrorism issues that made the article necessary -- in my opinion they found that they just couldn't lie any more.
I'm not saying that King used to lie about this topic, since I don't know his record on it, just that -- like his constituency -- he is a middle-of-the-road Republican on most issues.

You can be a RINO, you can be a Dimocrat, and still be able to tell an Arab terrorist when you see one.

I like the way you think...Islam and western civilization mix about as well as oil and water...
Deal with it now or pay the price later.

You should read the article. For one brief, shining moment they stuck their head out of the morass of moral relativity, smiling pictures of children celebrating eid and pious Muslims praying at Ramadan in order to tell the truth. Then, the moment of clarity faded away and fuzzy feel-good writing took over. Most recently, they reported about a celebration of Ashoura in Chicago reporting that Shiites carrying flags were celebrating like Shiites in Iraq. Of course, as we all have seen in photographs, the Shiites in Iraq were slitting their skin and the skin of their babies with swords, and literally were drenched in blood.

Finally, somebody in office has the guts to contradict the official "islam is peace" tm party line. That's leadership AND representation of the people.
Islam is an enemy ideology, a seditious political movement and needs to be recognized as such.
