WASHINGTON - Former Mayor Rudy Giuliani and Mayor Bloomberg yesterday came to President Bush's defense as the White House moved to contain a flap over Sept. 11 images in the president's new re-election ads.

Democrats, a firefighters union and some family members of victims charged that the commercials - which show quick glimpses of the destroyed World Trade Center with a flag flying and firemen removing a body from Ground Zero - were a callous attempt to exploit the tragedy for political ends.

Just heard on Fox & Friends that the IFFA is using 9/11 images in its fund raising letters for Kerry. Can you say hypocrites?

And here we have Ms. Breitweiser expressing some of her own propaganda: "Bush is a man of action; in fact, he is an action hero. Except, of course, when it really counts, like in those early morning hours when this country was under attack and our Commander in Chief was drinking milk and eating cookies with second graders." Showtime's "DC 9/11: Time of Crisis"

And if Clinton (or Kerry) had been in charge, on 9/12 they would have been drinking milk and eating cookies with second graders. And on 9/13 they would have been drinking milk and eating cookies with second graders. And on 9/14 they would have been drinking milk and eating cookies with second graders.

etc etc etc...................

Why doesn't the media interview me? I could tell them how offended I am by John Kerry's traitorous activities since coming home from Nam. I could discuss the fact that I have no idea where Kerry stands on any given issue at any given time since he appears to have no stand.

Though I feel for the families who lost someone on 9/11, the attacks are not their private property. The attacks were aimed at every American. I am sick of people acting like because they lost someone, this is private. Their loss is private but the attacks were not. I will never forget it that it was an attack on me, my family, my friends, may nation. I take it personal as should every American.

If George W. Bush wants to use 9/11 in his campaign, that is his right. He was attacked too. His response to the attacks shows the character and courage his predecessor did not have when we were attacked so many times during those 8 dark years.

God Bless America and George W. Bush.

And since Bush holds this office, in 10 years second graders will still be drinking milk and eating cookies.

Just this morning I was listening to WJR, a local ABC affiliate, Which was playing soundbites of the IAFF union leader lambasting Bush. After the clip was over the announcer said " it should be noted that the IAFF has endorsed Kerry for president". I must say you are normally right, but on this A.M. I was pleasantly surprised.

That is a pleasant surprise! Thanks for sharing.

Thanks. I later caught my boo boos such as "may nation = my nation". I now cut and paste it everytime the subject of the ads come up.

It is short but to my point.

IMO, the Dems are way overplaying their hand on this one.

Why go all out on the first ad that's released? That's silly. What are you going to do when even more hard-hitting and effective ads come out? How are you going to scream louder than you are now?

You know there is going to a steady drumbeat of ads coming from the Bush campaign and about 99.9% of them are going to reference Bush's leadership and resolve on the War on Terror. Are Dems going to blow a gasket each and every time a new ad appears?

Don't get me wrong. I'd love to see the Dems on the defensive, red-faced, angry, hysterical and screaming 24/7, but are they so stupid or blind with hate that they don't see the picture of themselves they are showing to the American people?

G.W. has earned the right to use those clips. IMO he should show more of the same, remind the electorate what has not happened since 9-11. I don't think I could make that same statement had Al Gore won the election.

WOOOO!!! just had a small earthquake.......hope it wasn't anyting I said.

They are seeking to control the debate. If they can succeed in getting certain topics defined as off-limits, they'll win with all their jobs-health care-education BS, while the elephant in the room that is national security goes unmentioned.

The election choice is already clear: Kerry is running as a 9/10 candidate, whereas the Presdient is living in the present and looking to the future.

I think that BB2, like me, missed the quotes on the first read. I was initially offended by your post until I reread it and realized you were merely quoting that money-grubbing nutcase.

I will never forget it that it was an attack on me, my family, my friends, may nation. I take it personal as should every American.

Ditto. I think the majority of those who lost friends and loved ones that day understand that and truly do mourn and honor the memory of their individual loved ones respectfully and privately while joining with the nation as we remember and honor those lost as a group. But,it has begun to grate on me that the very ones who claim that President Bush is exploiting their loved ones are the ones who seem to be doing the exploiting by trying to achieve some sort of celebrity because of their relationship to a victim of 9/11. It's as if they aren't truly offended by exploitation as long as they can chose who does the exploitation, and who benefits from it.

All of this haranguing may cause more people to notice the ads than would have in the first place, and reasonable people will see for themselves that they serve more to remind, unify, and honor than to exploit.
