Is that name recognition at work again?

Dang. While I'm certain Lungren is a nice guy and all, he IS the guy who gave us Grey Davis. Hopefully, he won't screw up this seat.

I don't know how Lungren did it . . . but if he wins, the shame of 1998 for him personally is over.

to the point that the federal government will have to step in and bail out the Golden State.

Or not. It might make a sobering object lesson...

Does Prop 58 set the table for the stinking filthy COURTS to step in and REQUIRE tax hikes in order to balance the budget, in the event of a seemingly intractable stalemate in the legislative budget process?

I mean, couldn't the scumbag Democrats just recline with a smile and say "no, a thousand times no" to any spending restraint and figure that sooner or later the budget process will end up in the courts?

Look at the bright side: its money the Democrats can't spend on useless programs since it all goes to repaying the debt.

This is true, yet I've seen the Dems pull some dirty tricks in the past...and they keep getting dirtier as time goes by.

When the time comes to pay the piper, the Dems won't support budget cuts; they'll only favor raising taxes. And if they don't get to raise taxes, I see them pushing for a default on the bond.

Then things will really get ugly.

The Democrats really wanted to increase taxes. After seeing what happened to Prop. 56, its doubtful Angelides will want to submit one in the immediate future to the electorate. That was his prescription for avoiding taking on the Prop. 57 bond...

Lungren was trailing both Oller and Ose in a POS poll back in mid-January. I don't think it was name recognition.

I love the way they boxed themselves in. They're hoist on their own petard.

That would be the political equivalent of cutting off your nose to spite your face. California is the sixth (used to be fifth) largest economy in the world. If this state tanks, the United States will feel it...in spades.

Nope...the Federal government will bail 'em out. You can count on that and the sun rising in the East. Only the rest of America won't get taxed for the sun rising...

Amazing, that the absentees WHICH HAVE AN AUDITABLE PAPER TRAIL could be so different in a partisan primary from the same day votes WHICH ARE UNVERIFIABLE.

Yup. Pretty amazing...

I love the way they boxed themselves in.

I've seen times where I thought the Dems had boxed themselves in before...but they -- like the terrorists of 9/11 -- brought boxcutters with them. And like our anti-American enemy, they too don't care who they hurt when they force their will on the American people.

In short, don't underestimate the treachery of the Left. That alone is the sole reason why they've managed to survive this long.

They're counting on people having short memories. After a decent interval, they will go back to what works for them. Its the nature of the beast.

Forgive me for jumping in to add my two cents about what is happening in the Oller / Lungren race. I believe two factors may be at work:

1. Ose and Oller were both throwing so much mud, it was really starting to turn off voters.

2. But I think the key may have been talk show host Tom Sullivan on one of the biggest, most influential radio stations in the area endorsing and pushing Lungren on his show yesterday and today.

I really hope Oller can pull it out though.

If there is a tumor, it's the Democrats. The destruction of California's economy is just the symptom.
